Purpose of multiple focus points?

How do you find focus accuracy using off-center focus points with let's say f1,4 lenses. Those focus points have f5,6 sensitivity, so IMHO the accurate focus with fast lenses are quite challengable for the camera.

Is this night photography coloured dot distortion from my sensor?

I do not see red and blue pixels, but I see white dots (plenty of them at 100 percent magnification). So my advice is to use long exposure noise reduction, especially at higher ISOs (more than 800).

As already said: vaseline on front element protective filter, stockings, soft focus lens or filter. I personally use soft focus DIY lenses or diminish High frequency layer opacity in post-processing. Soft focus lens has less contrast but beautiful softness

My advice would be to buy LED with not less than 6000-6500 K light. 3700, 4000, 4500 K LED will produce blueish positives

I think if you have Curves Panel in your LR, you can invert negative to positive. Try to browse internet how to do so. And create presset. PS enlarges your file at least 4 times. Sorry, late night here at yeat for more explatations

good 35 mm film dedicated Reflecta scanner with Silverfast software will cost you about 800 euro. Other alternative to scanning with scanner is digitizing with DSLR. I use Pentax K-1, FA 100/2,8 at f8 and custom made device. Quality is more than enough for my needs.
BTW, this topic was discussed in Pentaxforums earlier

MTF Mapper

Usually MTF is tested for 10 lines / mm and 30 lines / mm for distances 5, 10, 15, 20 mm from the sensor center (depends on sensor type - APS-C or FF). Zeiss is testing its lenses at 10, 20 and 40 lines/mm.
You can't compare directly your lenses with other, tested on another equipment. But I think, it is better to test 10 and 30 lines/mm, because there are more MTF data charts of other lenses on the internet for some kind of analysis of data.
Actually f5,6 will be "impressive" for many lenses, even old. As a portrait lens, M85 is more interesting at f2-2,8, IMHO.

Infrared lens for Pentax

I have Pentax K-5 and K-30 converterd to IR (640 nm).
Pentax-D FA* 50/1.4 is excelent even wide open (sharp, no hot spot), Pentax-D FA 15-30/2.8 is good too. I use these lenses at large apertures even for landscapes due to good sharpness, - no hot spots at f2.8-5.6)
Samyang 14/2.8 is good too

Poll: Which roadmapped and rumored product is your favorite?

Acctually I would like to see something like 135-150 mm f/1.8 for portrait. But there is no such plans in the roadmap. So, the lenses of choice for me are 11-18/2,8 for landscape infrared photography using APS-C body and DFA* 85/1,4 for FF body. I have FA* 85/1,4 and this lens is really fantastic in aspect of sharpness wide open and bokeh, but has some weekness in aspect of PF wide open.

Check you other lenses for decentering as well. I thought my 15-30 is slightly decentered in left lower corner. The same with samyang 14 and pentax dfa50. I did not check other lenses. But i tried another k-1 body in the store and there was no decentering signs.
So... maybe sensor block is a little missaligned.

About CAs. In case of not ideal focus they are more pronounced at open aperture. But according to ephotozine test, CAs are less than 1 pixel even at edges and max 0.3 pixel in the center at f16

Maybe this conclusion about higher Zeiss resolution comes out from the fact, that author used 50 Mpix camera for comparison with 36 Mpix Pentax K-1. In these conditions Zeiss resolves 50 Mpix sensor, but 36 Mpix sensor of Pentax K-1 is limiting the resolution. The best way to compare lenses would by Zeiss Milvus 50/1,4 versus Tokina Opera 50/1,4 on the same sensor.
