Finally I've completed my Singapore Kingfishers collection. Waited consecutively 8 days since last week, today finally got a chance to shoot this Black-capped KF, a skittish and usually don't allow any comfortable distance between shooters.

Agree Siva! It's a very skittish (similar to the Lesser coucal which I'm still yet to get a good shot) and would not allow any comfortable distance, but to my surprise that this adult male seems to be friendly enough and consistently appear at around 9am in the morning to say Hi to the birders :)

Initial shot and revisit for my improved shot on next day .

Are you using tripod or hand held? Possible to increase the shutter speed to get rid of any interference that resulting the IQ? I'm using TAV most of the time with shutter speed either at 250 or 320s. Aperture from 5.6 to 7.1 with ISO 1600 or 3200 on my K70.

I just got this Chinese Sparrowhawk on the afternoon, didn't manage to get a clear shots on last year. The distance is about 25-30m away, results are pretty fine and acceptable to me..

Thanks Dan!

Thanks swip! I would say both of the DA300 and the TC1.4 is a very good combination, in term of keeping rate and portability. If you notice my recent shots with these combination, I'm easily to get the job done at F5.6 (hand held), when I started off with the Bigma, I always had to stopped down to about F8 for a reasonable shots. Bottom line, these is a very light+portable combination if comparing to my Bigma 150-500mm earlier on (with Sirui N-3204X + Manfrotto MVH500AH head).

The reach will be the issue that I'm currently facing, I will get the DFA 150-450mm if there is an offer. Thanks!

OPTIC/GLASS

There are some dust specks and slight scratches inside the lens.
There is a insect garbage on the middle element, which might affect image quality or resolution.
There are faint fungus on the edge of the front element, which is being visible under the strong light and will have no affect on the image quality.

It seemed to have no affect on the image quality at least in general use. (It could do against the sun or string lights).

Great to meet the Dark-sided FC again during the migratory season over here. Used to shot more on the Asian-brown FC as compare to the dark-sided until last year where it started to stopped over. Taking with my K70+DA*300 and HD DA1.4 TC.
