Pentax D-LI50 battery

Been looking all over to try and get another Pentax D-LI50 battery for my K20D, can't find them anywhere. It's more to have a 2nd battery for my grip, the old one I had stopped charging. I have my original battery that came with the K20D and it's been solid, but the knockoff brand batteries don't seem to have the longevity of the Pentax battery. Even if someone can suggest a good compatible battery that would be great too. Thanks.

I think if you get ahold of him directly by email you can get what you need. I did that and was able to get the seal kit for my Program Plus recently.

Hehe, thanks. I actually found a thread mentioning him with a couple links a little bit ago. I emailed him and he will be able to provide me with a kit. He said he's re-arranging things with his ebay and paypal accounts which is why he doesn't have anything up for sale now. Thanks for that info anyway. :)

On a side note, is it possible to replace the foam strip in the body that the mirror slaps up against when it flips up? That strip is mostly gone now in this camera and it looks pretty deteriorated anyway. I of course don't want to ruin the mirror by taking it out completely. Any ideas?

Take a drive along both the Lake Erie (route 5) and Lake Ontario shoreline, lots of places to shoot and you can also pick up several cool lighthouses as well. There are lots of waterfalls off the beaten path as well. Plenty of nice rural scenery as well, particularly as you head into the southern tier where there are a lot more hills... Griffis Sculpture Park is a good place to shoot as well. It all depends on your targeted subject matter.

I have to admit that I jumped right into the digital world of SLRs, so I'm going to have to unlearn a lot of things to be more selective shooting film. But I've always wanted to try shooting film. Can't wait to see how this goes.

Alright, I took one of my alcohol swabs and gave the battery compartment and cover a thorough cleaning on the contacts and threads and now it seems I can get consistent firing without changing lenses and turning the camera off and on. Seems to be working fine so far... Now I need to throw some film in it and start playing with it.

Ok, new development. I swapped lenses, got 1000 on the screen, advanced, nothing, swapped to a different lens, got 1000 again, was able to fire the shutter and advance, then nothing again. Swapped to the first lens again, now I get P and was able to meter and fire off a shot, then nothing again. Swap to the 2nd lens, getting the ability to take a shot again... You can see where this is going. So this is what's happening. I don't think I want to have to change lenses every time I want to take a shot. :) Any insights?

Thanks gabriel, I did actually know about the 1000 for the film advance. I'm pretty sure this runs a little deeper though. :)

I recently picked up my father's Pentax Program Plus body with 35-70 lens. Unfortunately he passed away just over a week ago and my mother told me to take all the camera gear he had. He had this camera for years and I have used it before. I figured the batteries were dead since my father rarely used the camera. I replaced them and I got some life out of it, but barely. First I was only getting 1000 in the display. Was able to fire the shutter a couple times, but now I get nothing on the display unless I switch the manual with the aperture on A. I get a flashing E, until I move off A on the aperture ring and then I get a blank display again. I tried cleaning the contacts on the lens and on the body. I also tried with my Sigma 24-135mm that I use on my K20D and I still get nothing. I've tried playing with the various modes but I don't get anything, not even the 1000 shutter speed I was getting earlier. Just a flashing E when in manual mode with the aperture ring on A. Any ideas? (I did try swapping around the batteries as was mentioned in another thread but that just gave me no life at all)

I like the automotive theme, especially since I'm going to Watkins Glen this weekend for the Camping World Grand Prix of the Glen Indy race. :)
Nature is a good secondary theme that I like as well.

Yeah, I agree, I think low profile tires with big rims on an F1 or other open wheel car will look stupid. I don't think these tyre manufacturers have really thought about how ridiculous it'll look.

Yeah, looks like Pirelli is going to get the contract, which is fine by me... Michelin was talking about using 18" rims and low profile tires.

Very nice, I was lucky enough to go to Indy for the F1 race the year after the infamous tyre problems. I had a great time, but I didn't have a good enough camera for shooting auto racing at the time. I've always been a fan of F1 as long as I can remember, watching Prost and Senna battling, although I find myself watching and following a lot more in the last 5 or 6 years than I ever did in the past. I wanted to go to Montreal for the race this year, but the prices are ridiculous, would rather go to see some racing at Watkins Glen for $25-45 gen admission tickets and kids 15 and under free, and the region has beautiful scenery.

Thank you Jer, Watkins Glen is a really nice track and for the smaller events like this one it's nice that it's so open and you can actually walk around where the team garages are and you also have your pick of the stands. I'm heading back in a month for the Camping World Grand Prix of the Glen Indycar race which will be a little more limited as far as grandstand access, hopefully I can find a good spot to catch the action.

Yes, I'm still learning the panning techniques, the first shot was of the start/finish straight taken from the Pit Terrace stands which isn't a bad spot, but the teams had their pop up canopies all setup and even at the highest part of the stand it still obstructed some of the track view. The other shots I posted are from the S curves from the McDonalds Family Zone stand, it's a good spot for photographing but you tend to get the guard rail in front of the shot unless you are at the very top and standing. My choices will be a little more limited with general admission to the Indycar race next month, but I'll probably have more of an opportunity to scope out a better spot as I'll be with my brother in law who is more of a motorsports fan and won't mind finding a good spot to watch the races. What series is your shot from? I know it's not F1, although the car looks very similar. That shot was very well done, pretty perfectly captured it the action and nice and sharp.

Edit: Well, it looks like it IS F1, don't remember the Jordan team from 2004, back when Glock was just a test driver. Nice.

I wish I could say I'm good enough to shoot them perfectly, but they are all cropped a little to straighten and adjust for composition. The 2nd shot is probably cropped the most as I tightened it in to remove the photographer who was standing at the guard rail on the right of the shot. But otherwise they are pretty close to how they came out of the camera, with some slight WB adjustment and maybe a little exposure adjustment. Thanks for taking time to look in here. :)

Spent a few hours at the track today watching part of the races and practicing some panning shots. I think next time I go to the track I'm going to go by myself. While I like to bring my son and father in law with me so that they can enjoy some auto racing, I think my son is still a little young at 4 years old and not more than an hour after we got there he was already asking to go home. Spent a lot of time trying to find a good spot to watch the racing and get good photos as well. But don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed my time there today and my son did like the auto racing anyway. Anyway, here are some shots:

Thanks for looking in.

Last shot is definitely a cheetah. :) Maybe the grass is throwing you off, it was a little long.

As far as the tiger, I assure you, if we were on the same side of the glass I'd be the scared one. :)

Thank you for looking.

Very nice shots, I have just picked up the DA 55-300mm myself recently and so far the shots are sharp and a cut above the Tamron 70-300mm that I was using before.
