Finally got to take the D800E out yesterday for the very first time. I...am...in...LOVE! Yeah, this church still had their manger up.

Wonderful images and discussion in this thread. I could wait no longer and purchased the D800E along with the "holy trinity" of Nikkor lenses as well as a Nikkor 50mmG 1.8 prime. Time to list the Pentax gear on the chopping block.

Reworking one from a set of 2 year old brackets. Don't let anyone tell you that you cannot get decent results from loading JPGs into Photomatix or the like. I mistakenly shot this church in JPGs mode  and below is a result.

Awesome work all!

How about Mark Twain's desk in the room where he wrote such masterpieces like Tom Sawyer. Hit the photo for the full description:

Thanks all for such an excellent thread that I have been following for some time. I am giving into the the FF madness. Time to put my beloved Pentax gear on the chopping block. Unfortunately, the inconsistent AF in low light has been killing me with my K-5. Don't get me wrong, I love the K-5 but I am tending to miss a lot of moments when candidly shooting my kids in low light where I don't want to use a flash. I have been looking for an excuse to upgrade to a better, more advanced system and have been eye balling the Nikon D800.

Tried something a little different as I was waiting for a meeting to start. Putting some good use to HDR and the Sigma 8-16mm lens ;)

Great shots all! HDR is great for jack-o-lanterns. Even if there was a ton of fog coming off them:

Man, did I have an adventure this week. Got to go inside an historic Lighthouse that is in the ocean. It was fantastic and the weather was just perfect.

I think they look great as well @todd.

Can you believe that one of mine is a finalist in Ron Howard and Canon's Project Imaginiat10n? Voting is taking place now. Yes, taken with a Pentax K-5 and it is a "pseudo-HDR". And, no, you do not have to use a Canon to enter the contest. I am a Pentaxian Baby ;)

I am raising my own two Pentaxians! A shot from my photowalk with my twin 8 year old boys yesterday afternoon:

One is using my *ist DL and the other is using the K-7. Me? I shot this with my K-5.

Thanks GeoJerry. I used Photomatix for the tone mapping and Photoshop for the rest. You might this interesting as well:

It is a great example why I love the Pentax K-5. I shot the original image 1 full f-stop under exposures and was able to pull out a lot of detail in all the shadows. I underexposed to nail the clouds just right. Shot this at ISO 80 as well using the DA* 16-50mm.
