Albert Siegel | K-3 Mark III Hands-On

The only conclusion that cameraville can come to is his copy is not as sharp. A zoom lense is a complicated piece of equipment and there could be an element out of alignment if the lense was subjected to extreme impact, this I know from personal experience as I received a da* 50-135 with broken bits of glass inside the lense even though there appears no damage on the outside. Also Pentax is unlikely to employ idiots in their marketing department. They can't go broke if they make a profit.

Get a cheap mobile phone that has tracking enabled and place it in the bottom of the bag make sure to turn it on with a full battery and the police can maybe recover it and if lucky catch the perp.

If I remember correctly the film counter needs to be at 1 to make the camera not fire at 1000 shutter speed. If the counter is not working, possibly this is affecting the exposure?

Reversed zoom lens technical questions

As the glass is going to be removed you can get a very cheap "A" with bad optics and work on that.

The longer the deglassed lense "extension tube" the greater the magnification. A pancake (Costly?) lense would keep you more in the range of what you are used to?
This is all just theory for me as I have no real macro experience.

See this thread about how good the K1 is on AF.
K-1 Tracking--- 10 images, 10 in focus - PentaxForums.com
While it is a da Lense, used in FF mode you can crop to give more than apsc image size.
There are a multitude of AF settings that require time and patience to work out the best setting for a given task.
It might not be the best for action but it ain't no slouch either

Perhaps a second phone set up as a dedicated WiFi to camera and then Bluetooth to main phone. This may allow a more continual workflow and avoid WiFi cut outs?
Just a thought not sure if it would work but doesn't everyone have a spare phone lying about to test the theory?

It will actually have GPL global positioning lock. It will stay exactly where you let go of it so no tripod needed also means it will not fall to the ground, cannot be dropped.

Sorry Norm but this result is not valid as you used the equipment as designed:)
But seriously, knowing how to use it correctly is the challenge for those who are either too busy to learn or too lazy to work it out. Tracking is a whole different skill set to point and shoot. Great example of "we can do it too"

Adding a mask in the view finder like was done in the MZ for panorama shooting but adapted for the crop view should be easily done in the future FF model but if Pentax don't feel the need to do this I won't be surprised. Might darken the finder too much.

Do old lenses need some modification to be used on newer DSLRs?

I have found that a good quality pair of aviation tin snips can remove the excess with no tiny swarf bits to fall into the lense.
You need to use the one ( Left or right cut not sure which) that allows the flat of the blade to sit flush with the lower portion.

Again the usual cautions apply. Take it slow and gentle as it is brittle material.

Lens Swapping Without Caps?

I have not done this but I think it is a viable option.
CaptureLENS Clip For Carrying & Changing Lenses | Peak Design Although not currently in K mount you could easily stick two sick teleconverters back to back and attach to the belt clip which you can buy seperately.
Or add k mount adaptors for one of the existing versions.
Add a body cap on a string for the one that is not being used. Stops dust catching in open mount.
No hunting in pouch, already at hand in attaching mode.
If you can't change in under 10 seconds after some practice, practice more.
Go Bruce!!

Catch In Focus on AF lenses, is it ok to do?

The solution is simple.
Buy another K1 and put the MF lense on it. Surely a back up body would be essential:lol:
Don't tell your wife I put you up to it:D

Excellent shot of eagles, my green inner monster hates you because you were there and not me:)
I'm sure in Canikon land they say "our AFC is better so we get more in focus poor quality shots than you":o
Only bought the K1 because I had the glass and was only going digital if Pentax released a FF. Now need to up my skills.
Yes Canikon has glass Pentax doesn't but Pentax also has glass Canikon doesn't.
If you can't push the file much in post, then what is the point of digital? Unless you are a fanatical OOC photographer (Or completely inexperienced PP failure like me)
Also having the leeway to shoot in much lower light allows more time to hopefully get the image you want or fall in love with.

Check your OS will support more than 4GB
Download CCleaner from piriform.com THE FREE VERSION if you don't have it already.
Set a restore point
Clean the registry
Stop programs from starting up at startup that you don't need to.
reboot and see if that helps free up ram and speed up lightroom.
Download speccy from same site and it will give you all the internal details so you can get correct RAM etc to boost your speed if still needed.

Most older computers slow down because of all the junk we leave in the registry and programs that load when we don't need or use them at start up.
An SSD will help for your programs.
My i3 8GB win 10 takes 20sec to boot from shutdown.

I believe that the shutter gets set to 1/1000 until 1 on counter is reached to assist speed in loading film. If it still shows after several winds and you are past Number 1 then "Houston you have a problem":)

A quick warning on the K1, I do not know what glue Pentax use on the grip but once it is in your hands it takes a superhuman effort to get it out of your hands.
Enjoy.
