AWB is great when set to strong. Too bad most reviews don't bother beyond default settings.
And even with default it's way better than any canon DSLR

they can start development now and by the time they finish it it will be affordable "enough"
anyway, i think they should just talk with Sony and make a FF 645D 90Mpix CMOS sensor based on K-5 with live-view and maybe even video.
much less development needed, and they can still charge a fortune for such a camera.

A small grip with no battery, but filters + cards + remote compartment :)

Yes it does, by shrinking image circle like those old nikons, you are efectively using a reverse teleconverter. so not only focal length is reduced, but aperture is increased massively.
If you shrink 50mm F1.4 image circle to a 1/2.33 sensor, you will get a 9mm F0.25 lens. however lens will be at least as large as the original 50.
DoF imho is the least of the problems. DR and noise worries me most. If at least they made a nice 6Mp sensor....

p.s. just an idea - they can probably make those cameras real cheap(200$ body) and make all the cash on accessories/lenses. i think they would get a lot of interest at such prices, and i see no reason why they can't make some cheap plastic models for such a price.

this is the most annoying thing in this camera for me, I'm so used to this feature with k-7.
But I'm using this bug as an excuse not to buy K-5 yet :D

depends on the lens used.
it is loud with DA-L lenses(plastic), but silent with DA and especialy WR/* lenses.
i noticed it when i tried comparing it to a K-7. K-7 had DA40 mounted and K-5 had DA-L 35 on it. K-5 was much louder, but it all reversed when i switched lenses.

i have 35 DA-L and 40Lim at the moment.
i would choose DA40 without any doubt. much less color aberrations, superb flare control, size, built, quick-shift and what's very interesting - camera is less noisy(and I'm not talking about AF) with DA40 compared to DA-L 35, i guess plastic bayonet doesn't lower noise as well as a metal one.

E-5 is a match for k-7, not k-5.
Olympus just tries to get as much cash as they can from a dying system's loyalists

i think this is not card, but processing related.
i also believe that they can fix it to match low ISO buffer size.
this slowdown could happen due NR done for RAW in which case they could just give an option to turn it off.
or it could be from jpeg generation with advanced NR which is usually included in RAW file. they could then just skip NR for "preview" jpegs attached to RAW

imho there is no room for pentax FF DSLR.
however if they make it a FF EVIL with fully functional K adapter and shallow mount to be able to adapt rangefinder lenses, it will be a huge hit, even if priced well over 2500$

Ben is one of the best advertisements they have. Somebody should be fired at Pentax marketing for letting this opportunity go away.

they could use some their 77 metering zones to help tracking. they don't provide distance info, but in many cases they can tell subject's direction.

and only center one really works, others are either horizontal or vertical, so if we count only reliable points 5Dmk2 has just 1

i need 5. 1 in center and 4 covering 2/3 rule.
9 points is sometimes usefull, but i never use 11.
if they can improve AF without adding extra points - it's great, less clicks to choose the one i want.

so, as i understand Hoya decided to have some fun and told everybody that they are going to release 35mm F/(your personal number) prime.
it basically says that nobody really knows if the number they got is real, or even if it's really a 35mm prime.
i guess we'll have to wait and see. personally i wish that they released 28mm F2 FF covering prime they patented not so long ago in DA* flavor :)

i want limiteds to be as small as possible, that is maximum possible aperture with 49mm filter.
WR would be nice though.
SDM should go to DA* series together with as fast as possible aperture and no worries about filter size

77zone metering system gives 77 dots for histogram, if they could increase zones to several hundred and make up some fake points by interpolating zones nearby, they could make a decent histogram.
i don't think we'll see it in this generation though

do you have some information?
one of those patents for lenses with 4/3 image circle looks like a nice FF 28mm F2 design just patented smaller to confuse people.
i'm waiting for a silent, WR FA31 equivalent :)

sounds like a lot of pentax/hoya patents/products :)
we all seen new SDM patent, i guess pentax has plenty of WR experience/patents and new hoya glass has been already out in sigmas
