It can be tricky. IF it says "K-Mount" on it, it could be for Pentax 35mm, or for Pentax 645 medium-format cameras. If it's 645, it's going to be physically quite a bit larger, and thus not compatible.
Also.. if it says "Pentax" on it, it might be K-Mount, and it might be Bayonet-mount. Good reason to go to a local shop with used lenses, you can put them on a camera to see if they fit, and see if you get a decent test shot or two before taking them home.

Your points 7, 8, and 10 are probably the most important in your list. Perhaps you could add a number 11: Have fun, whether you're a pro or a hobbyist. Creating art should be fun. :)

Shot at 50... was the film pulled a stop, or developed normally for 100? (I'm guessing "normal" since you didn't mention it.)

Gorgeous detail. :)

Looks like 12 total now... 6 black brass (including mine) and 6 brass. Hopefully that'll go up... as I'd really like the lens.
I'll probably get their 64mm when it's back in-stock in Pentax mount as well.

Halo with FA 50mm f1.4

at f1.4, your entire depth-of-field is very narrow. What you're seeing is probably not "haloing" it's probably "bokeh"

Bring that up to f5.6 or f8, adjust your exposure, and see what it looks like.
Pentax f1.4 lenses are really sharp, within the in-focus field, but if the in-focus field is only 3-metres deep in a landscape shot... that'll leave a lot out of focus.

I believe someone suggested basically the same above, and I think that person was correct. That shot was much closer to the lens, so the depth-of-field would be even shallower at a wide-open aperture. That lens at f1.4 in close shots can have a depth-of-field just millimetres or centimetres deep.

Keep shooting with varied settings until you figure out how to get exactly what you want.

There's a lot of leeway in film for blown highlights, especially in B&W film. If you need to rescan with custom settings, so be it.

I've received my camera back from Johnson's Photopia in the UK (I'm in Ireland.)
They sent a nice padded box and had it picked up on the 31st. I received it back 7 days later. (within an hour or so of being exactly 7 days turnaround.)
The staff were pleasant and competent etc.., I couldn't hope for better customer service via telephone and e-mail. I have high expectations that the quality of the work was spot-on.
Along with the camera, I received a software CD and a manual.

I haven't had a chance to put my cameras through their paces. (I now have a K-1 Mark II, and a K-1 "Mark II" and I plan on doing some A/B comparisons with them to see just how similarly they perform. (I'll do them for free and share the results for free instead of asking for money because I don't want to be proven wrong... unlike some people. :/ )

I did notice right away that the product tag on the bottom of the camera has the same model number on both of them now. I'm assuming they changed that.
The only visual cues that they aren't identical cameras are the "K-1" vs "K-1 II" and "II" vs "SR" in another spot on the body. (and the aforementioned product ID tag on the bottom.)

I look forward to sharing my test results once I've done the tests. I'm hoping some other folks will do the same.

The overall characteristics that come from the lens will be the same.. basically the shapes. How the shading and especially the edges appear could be significantly different.
Pentax and SONY if they are recent, will be using very similar image-sensors, so it's mainly the processing AFTER the image sensor that would be pretty different. I'd be curious to see a shot with a lot of bokeh taken with the same lens on both those cameras, with all other settings being identical... and zoom in real close to see how different they look.

Because it's digital, and there is processing of some sort involved, how it gets processed could affect how it comes out.
Generally image-sensors don't actually do a photo-site to pixel 1:1 mapping. There are multiple "colours" of photo-sites, and an interpolation algorithm involved in determining what "colour" any given pixel should be.

Most sensors have an arrangement along these lines:

GREEN RED
BLUE GREEN

and the colour of each pixel in the "raw" image is determined by averaging the input from the neighboring photo sites of the other colours.
Adjusting that algorithm could make a big difference in how something like a lens flare, where there is the potential for massive differences in the intensity of light hitting adjacent photo-sites is interpreted.
The differences between say, an algorithm that "chooses" to exaggerate the differences to make the image look "sharper", vs. an algorithm that is designed to "smooth" the transitions, vs. an algorithm that changes it's behaviour depending on how bright pixels are vs. their surrounding ones, or what colour the light has averaged out to etc.., and whether the scales used in the algorithm are linear or algorithmic etc.. could all, at least in theory, make a HUGE difference in the appearance of bokeh, every bit as much as the differences between various types of film will. Kodak Portra will have much smoother bokeh than Kodak T-Max, due to the nature of the underlying emulsion, and the chemicals used, chemistry temperature, chemical dilution, and developing timecan results in significantly different looks with all other things being identical.

I had already posted this elsewhere, before I saw this thread existed.

I'm in Ireland, and Johnson's Photopia in the UK is whom I'm dealing with. They're sending a courier with a special box to pick up my camera on Thursday as part of the service.
Thus far their customer service person that I've been dealing with is fantastic. If their work is as good, I think I'll be grand, but I'll update once I get my camera back.

Looking forward to comparing the K-1 Mark II, to the K-1 Mark II (upgrade)

Is your Tamron 70-300 set in Macro mode? If so, it might not be able to focus on anything that's too far away.
(You'd have to be zoomed in quite a bit and flip the switch, so probably not.)

Teleconverter and Adapter club

I have two Kenko Teleconverters (1.5x and 2.0x) as well as a 35mm macro-focusing tube..
and I have a Vivitar 2x macro-focusing tele converter, and a weird off-brand (magnicon?) 3x macro-focusing teleconverter that I got real cheap.
I've not really put any of them through their paces yet. (and I've had the Kenko adapters for years, and they're even auto-focus.)
I also have an old-school macro bellows.. but that isn't tele. :)

I do wonder how many folks have teleconverters instead of super-long lenses. I guess we'll see, and maybe I'll try to shoot a few things worthy of posting with my tele's. :)

No, just pointing out that it's possible some people won't be completely happy with it if vignetting scares them off. I shot a production of Oliver Twist a few weeks ago, 726 images in 2 hours, all with that lens. Looks like I'll be handing off around half of those to the director. (I haven't upgraded my K-1 to a Mark II yet, so some of the lower-light areas of the stage just didn't work well. Stupid stage lighting, always uneven.) ;)

I have both of these lenses. The 28-75 is really nice. I've never noticed vignetting around the edges... the 70-200 on the other hand, has pretty significant vignetting on K-1 (and Z-1p 35mm) It can be adjusted for in Lightroom/Photoshop/Camera Raw, but it would be nice if it didn't need it.

One note on my 70-200.. I bought it back a fair few years now, and I think it might be several revisions old... and it is still a nice lens even with the vignetting.

I hope that wasn't inappropriate.

Could be a problem with the camera, or with the memory card(s) from the sound of things.
If you have a pro dealer who can check it out, I'd have them check it out, and be sure to show them that poor weird-coloured dalmatian!

You could try doing some tests on the SD cards to see if there are bad bits in one or both. (but wear-leveling algorithms might keep it from being evident.)

The Samyang f3.5 24mm Tilt/Shift lens can be had for £500 sterling plus £8.00 shipping in UK/Ireland, and probably a bit of Europe, from a seller on Amazon called DSLR GEAR UK.
I believe the same vendor is also selling it on eBay at a very slightly different price. (I think slightly more, but with free shipping to some places.)

It generally goes for quite a it more on amazon.co.uk. There are other sellers with higher prices.

Pixel shift resolution is available on the K-1 as of day-1. It's just supposed to be faster, so that it can be done hand-held. Right now it really requires a tripod to get decent results. (but the resolution is INSANE!) =D

I'm looking forward to seeing how different it is.
