Thankyou for your advice guys, i will take a look at the kit later and give it a go,also when i'm in the macro range setting the lens is hard to focus, manually, its really sticky and jumpy,if this makes any sense,so you get near to the focal point, then bang you've gone by it and have to bring it back, could this be because the lens is new ? its not smooth like the kit len. I love your pics visualdarkness, thats what i want to be taking but i have not taken a single shot,i've already spent hours reading and watching tutorials....maybe this is just not for me.

Hi Everyone,i just have a quick qurstion if i may, i just purchased the tamrom 70/300 zoom lens for my KR, my problem is and as i'm also new and it may just be me not having a clue what i'm doing. I placed the tamron lens on the body and then set the lens to between 180 and 300 then turning on the macro switch, the problem comes when i watched a youtube tutorialand the guy did the same but he pressed his af button to zoom in and then move his foacal point, well when i do this the lens zooms all the way in,then back out,it wont focus,if i then manually change my aperture on the lens from auto to manual and set the lens to auto focus the camera won't do anything, the picture capture button does nothing and its almost like the camera has been switched off, i cant seen to have the macro lens on and get close as it can't focus and there i was thinking the whole idea was with macro was to get nice clear ,crisp images,i've only had this camera 6 weeks and i'm so done with it already,my point and shoot compact produces much better results all the time,i wanted to learn photography but it seems so complicated its just causing me stress and i thought it was meant to be relaxing,i've not taken a single picture yet worth saving and have spent in the region on£1200 quid, even got ps cs5 but can't use it either as i have no pictures, anybody wanna buy a lovely big beginners kit, complete with slingshot bag and lenses,tripod,monopod....all sorts...this stuff is all new with receipts :(

I've really messed up.i downloaded a trial of adobe photoshop and uninstalled my version of elements, now my trial will expire. i never knew at the time that i could reset my camera to dng from pef,now i have to format my pc to get my origonal copy of elements back as it was bundled with the os system and not on the apps and data disc.i have so much on my pc and don't want to go through the painful procedure of formatting i might go ahead and pay for photoshop, Thanks to everyone that gave me all this valuable advice.

I was just hoping for a little guideance with software,to my disappointment i have just found out that my edition of adobe elements 8 will not open my raw images from my new KR,so i was hoping someone out there maybe able to advise me on the software i should go for as i'm new to the world of DSLR ,should i upgrade my elements to version 10 to cope with the raw files,or lightroom 3 or go the whole hog and get the full photoshop cs 5.1,any advice would be greatly appreciated,i must admit i am leaning towards ps cs5 to kinda future proof myself and have alittle more control over my pictures. thanks again Matt.

Is there anybody out there that would have access to the AA battery adaptor for the KR ? i have been looking here in the shops and they want £30 pounds equivalent to about $50 U.S, i was wondering if anybody that had access would purchase one on my behalf and send it to me,i'd ofcourse pay all costs incurred via pay pal or any other form of payment,I'd be erternally greatful. If not then i'm afraid the brand new KR will end up on Ebay as i'm not paying through the nose for something that should have been included in the camera kit ! i thought it was only britain that ripped us off, seems pentax wanna do it too.anyway i look forward to hearing from another very helpfult Kr owner.
Thanks in advance Matt

This is the one i use and it works flawlessly,i think you can even put the camera in bulb mode and click it twice, although i have not tried this yet.

Thankyou Pezmaker for your comments, may i just ask where you found my settings that the picture was taken at ? it wasn't on a tripod just handheld, but the lens was wide open, I would like to see it alittle "crisper" maybe if i took a similar shot using a tripod and increasing the shutter speed ?
