That's where feedback is important. If you know something about it you could contact the poster and I'm sure he would listen to you.

Everything is questionable on the web, but still the broadway was on the list as a bad company. If the OP had seen this he would avoid the hassle, don't you think?

Here is a huge list of good and bad companies:

Where/Where Not to Purchase Your Camera

I suggest bookmarking it and telling everyone about it. So many people are still being scammed, it's ridiculous.

The problem is, if they tell about it online, they mention a single shop, which people promptly forget :(

Bad thing about the k100d (super)

A very bad thing is lack of Super's RAW support in photoshop prior to CS3.

But you can always convert them to dng :). The DNG converter supports Super.

edit: minor corrections

Are you sure they're repairing it? Greek politicians are well known for showing off (Olympics 2004 a good example). I'm saying that as someone that grew up in Greece. "Let the tourists see how much we care about our ancient traditions". Pompous morons :(.

Here are the RAW versions of the above. I uploaded them on gigasize.com (the only site I'm aware of lol).

I would really like to see them edited :) (especially if you share your settings :P)

Thanks for the advices :)

~~~~~~
These are of course free for all, edit at leisure. I will upload their raw files next time I come to this web cafe. These are "test" shots anyway, not private property.
Hotels have annoying personnel who insists on "helping you". I'll think about it though :)
~~~~~~

I do bracket some of my shots. Super only has "0 - +" setting (in any combination), so 5 are not possible.

Wow on your version. Seems I have to learn about levels asap :)

I'm using multi-segment metering (default), since I need to learn more about it, too.

Thanks for the comments, point taken :)

If you've been looking for Parthenon, I'll have to disappoint you. It has some ugly maintenance iron things attached to it. Maintenance, yeah right, it's just to show off how they "care" about it.
In any case I hate taking pics of it in this state. I do have some not so ugly, taken from afar, which I can post.

Yes, you're right about pollution, though I think the sky was blue when I was taking these pics ;).

I don't have filters yet. These were taken with plain kit lens, as my 40mm Limited seemed inappropriate for the focal lengths that I needed.

I'll remember your comment about anafiotika when I go there. Climbing on hotel roofs might not be feasible. There might be other ways, though.

Hi :)

I would really appreciate people's opinion on some of my pics taken in Acropolis. Don't be afraid to hit me with everything you have ;).

I'm a beginner and rely heavily on post processing, in which I like to think I'm rather good (or at least more familiar with it). I'm using a K100D Super which has made around 450 shots at this point. I was rather proud of my pics at the beginning, but now most of them look more like snap shots :(.

These are probably the best of around 90 (which were taken in just one area of Acropolis, theater of Dionysos).

Things I'm really interested to know about these pics:
1) are they interesting to look at or are the subjects that I chose plain boring?
2) did I compose correctly?
2) all were underexposed (dark) when taken, and photoshopped in camera raw. Are my saturation/exposure/WB settings chosen correctly? Of course you probably haven't been there to know how the place looks like, but try to see if they look pleasing to you.

I'm aware of the wrong horizon issue, I would normally try to crop it, but now I consider these pics as test shots, to be remade now that I'm more familiar with my camera ( I can go to Acropolis again if I want to, providing I'm not working, plus I still have some ticket parts unused).

Any other comments would be welcome.

Here are the pics (with links to full size versions - approximately 90% jpeg compression)

I'm not sure why the sky looks gray on the first 4 pics, maybe the sun was in wrong position (I think it was on my right or left)? It was around 14:00-15:00 o'clock.

2) I put the rocks and leaves in the frame intentionally, I wonder if that was a good idea.

4) Here is a nearly the same pic, but clean.

5) And here I'm more concerned about the photo being interesting to look at, the colors seem fine. IIRC the sun was almost behind me, this was one of my last pics there. Check the shadows ;)

I think I saw somewhere (probably in RAW metadata) a mention of "Pentax K100D Super" firmware.

Thanks for all the info :)

Battery Life

To original poster: did you fully charge the batteries the first time before using them? This is very important. It fits your description, and I know at least 1 person who had a similar problem (he didn't charge the first time, and now the battery is dieing within 1 hour)

Hmmm, it seems some people here have adopted very wrong practices with their batteries...

That's actually ranges from indifferent to harmful (in-camera discharge is the best btw), as it can decrease capacity if you don't know what you're doing.

I could translate an amazing battery FAQ, if I get the permission from the writer. I think similar guides must also exist on the web...

I read that the lens hood on the 40mm Limited is already installed on the lens when you buy it. Seems to be on mine...

How do I remove it?

*Can* I remove it? It seems to be stuck, and I dont want to break the lens.

Is there a benefit on having it on?

When I use the Menu+On, it says "Ver.: 1.00"

It might refer to a different firmware though, from what you say.

I've been looking for an update for my Super, but there is only one for the K100D. Can I use it to update the Super?

Does it really improve anything btw?

K100D Super memory card speed

Hi :)

I've been lurking for quite a while, time to move out :lol:

I think I've seen someone here mention that Super is limited to maximum 66x speed cards. Is this correct? The salesman from whom I bought mine said it is supposed to support some 133x cards.

What is the highest speed card for it?
