I have a friend who has the same kind of camera that I have(K20D) and he wanted to take some realty related photos to day and he wanted to imbed the date on the photos. He was disapointed that the K20D did not have this feature so I went through the manual page by page and could not find any related info. Am I missing something here? Anyone please. ken

Like everyone else, they,re just trying to sell cameras. Trendy newcomers would probably think they're great, they do look kinda neat, although I still like black. ken

opinion on Sigma EX DC Macro 18-50 F2.8

One thing I have learned is that when you really want some thing and it's available, do not hesitate or procrastinate, buy it now, quick or that chance may be gone forever. I've been wanting and looking and procrastinating over buying a Tamron 28/75 for over six months, CameraCanada had them on sale for $408. Yesterday I finally decided to make the purchase, too late, the price is now $589., $659. at Dons photo., guess I did'nt really need it anyhow. By the way I do have the Sigma 18/50 EX DG macro and I love it. It has a bit of a color cast which I think enhances images, it's very sharp and it focuses very fast on my K20. Good luck on your search. ken

I voted yes, but it would have to sell for less than $2000. cdn. and be a major step ahead of the present 20D. ken

Good Inexpensive Lens for Landscapes

If you are really into landscapes ( and also interiors ) I'd say bite the bullet, spend the money and get a Sigma 10/20, you will not be sorry, it is a awesome lens. It really excells as a wide angle. If you feel that its just too much to invest in one lens, perhaps you could borrow or rent one for a few days and you'll find out first hand why people that have them, love them. ken

Canada Post Rant

I think you need to realize that Canada post has no control over what happens to your parcel once it crosses the border, although that does'nt excuse them from making promises that they cannot possibly fulfill. you should also realize that shipping that parcel via any courier will incure some pretty hefty brokerage charges. In my other hobby( radio conrol aircraft) I deal regularly with several companies and must always specify shipping with US postal service and Canada post to avoid the absolutely outrageous brokerage fees the couriers charge. Sorry that your parcel was so badly delayed and I hope your dad did finnally get it before it was really too late. ken

I voted no. I, m not a sports or a wildlife shooter so 200 mm does'nt interest me. I have the new Sigma 18/ 50 macro and it suites me just fine. (great lens) Although I would'nt mind if it was a little wider. ken

Recommend a good P&S to me

I tooam looking for a new p&s camera. I've been reading reviews and reports till my head spins and the conclusion I've come to is that the only P&S really worth having is th Fuji F31fd and would'nt you know, it's not in production any more. It's successers the F40 and the F50 although very good little cameras just do not seem to have the image quality or the low light cappability that the F31fd had. Although there are many fairly good p&s cameras out there in my opinion none have equalled the F31fd except the Canon G7,G9 and they're a little too big and heavy. I have my name on a list waiting for a refurbished F31 but I would still prefer a new one and really would appreciate being notified of any dealer any where who still has one in stock. I guess I have'nt really been helpful in your quest but can't help wondering why you did'nt buy the F31fd when you say you had one in your hands, oh well I suppose you had your reasons. Anyway, good luck in your search. ken

If you had a choice: Sigma 300mm f/2.8 EX DG vs. Pentax FA* 300mm f/2.8 ED IF [NOS?]

I'd go for the Sigma, cause I have the 18/50 ex dg 2.8 and it's a great lens and even the hint of the word grey market and I'm outta there so it's nix for the Pentax. ken

Can't decide which P&S to get...

I too am looking for a small p&s since I sold the Canon A620 that I had for about a month last year. I hated the menue system and just could'nt get used to it. I was at Dons Photo a few weeks ago and checked out the Canon G7 and the Nikon P5000 both I thought took absolutely great pictures. Its hard to tell sometimes how all the features will work out once you get the camera home but there in the shop I was very impressed with both cameras especially the Nikon because it was smaller and it would actually fit in a shirt pocket. They also both use SD cards. Good luck in your quest. ken

When I traded my DS2 for the K 10D I also got the Sigma 18/ 50 2.8EX DC Macro and I really like it but just a little more reach would be nice although I would'nt want to give up the wide angle for it. I'm thinking the Sigma 17/ 70 2.8EX DC would be about perfect for me. ken

Got my K10D last week

Experimenting with my new camera. Last week I traded my DS2 in for a K10D and orderd a Sigma 18/50 f2.8 EX macro to go with it. The lens won't be here for a few weeks so I'm using my FA 35 f2 for the time being. At the same time I bought the cable switch and the cordless remote so I'm ready to go. I've been looking at a lot of the different RAW software programs lately and have decided to try Bibble Pro 4.9.5. Does anyone know of a retailer that sells this, if you do could you please let me know. THANKS Ken

the program series...

Hi, I still keep a roll of film in my super progam, and use it once in a while. I think I bought it in about 83 and it still works great, takes awesome pics. At the time I bought the camera I also bought an A 50mm 1.7 and an A 28mm 2.8 and an A 35/105 f3.5 zoom. That zoom is on my DS2 most of the time , a highly under rated lens. For outside pics in good light its absolutely great, image quality is miles ahead of the kit lens,18/55. I usually keep the 50mm on the super program all the time . ken
