The best thing you can do now is to start submitting photos taken with your Pentax and third party lenses to prove how wrong he is.

On a side note, Sigma takes out full page ads in Trains magazine but not every month.

I'm sorry. I just hope it was the plastic safe contact cleaner that you had.

For anybody that doesn't know. Contact cleaner is a very strong and harsh cleaner used to clean electrical contacts and parts. It comes in two types, safe for plastic and normal. Safe for plastic is as it sounds. It can be used on plastic with no problem. Normal, on the other hand, will melt plastic and haze and craze clear plastics to make them unusable.

I must make my report. I spent Sunday, May 26th at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and I did not see any Pentax cameras at all. In fact, I didn't even take mine. Had too far to walk from parking to the track this year :hmm:.

Now I did see two guys that were official photographers with Canon. Each with two cameras. I also saw, I think, two other Canons and as least one Nikon. Most people were using call phones for video.

Keep in mind, I only saw a small section of the people on the north end of the track, and with about 300,000 people, there could have been one or two Pentax cameras somewhere in that crowd.

End of report. :)

Help Identifying coins.

I'm getting in on this thread a little late and can not see the photos.

Here are my suggestions in general.

If you have questions about the grade of a coin you have, if you can, get a copy of the book Photograde. I think the authors name is James Rudy. He published this book on grading all the American coins minted. The book contains photographs and descriptions of most of the top grades.

Also pricing. What I have always done is used what is called The Red Book. It is just a pricing guide that has been around for 70 plus years. There is also a book that is The Blue Book but I don't know what the difference is. The Blue Book might be international coin prices. Just guessing though.

From what I have been reading, the OP has a Morgan dollar. If it is in a really good condition, You might consider sending it off to PCGS PCGS The Standard for the Rare Coin Industry to get the coin graded and then put into a holder (slabbed) so the condition does not go down.

Just set the lens in a south facing window for a few days so the sun will shine through the lens. If the spot is closest to the mount end, set that end so the sun shines through that end.

Home Warranty Scam....... Thought I was covered with American Home Shield

You still could talk to a lawyer and see what they would say and advise. A lot of lawyers will talk to you for free. You might even get lucky and find a lawyer that would take the case pro bono.

Something else, Go and look at the paperwork that you signed with the warranty company to see if they did not covered R22 units. This could work in your favor because if they did not disclose that the warranty does not cover pumps that use R22 before you signed, that might be fraud too.

Home Warranty Scam....... Thought I was covered with American Home Shield

I was going to offer my 2 cents worth but I think I need some more information. Just tell me if I am understanding this right.

Your heat pump went out.
You called for service.
Service man came out and informed you that your unit has an irreparable leak and should be replaced. Your unit also needed R22 but the warranty only covers R12. Also R22 has been outlawed by the EPA so even if you didn't have a leak, the service man could not recharge the pump because of the R22 issue.
You have a 100 dollar deductible for service calls and the warranty company is not paying the rest so you have to pay out of pocket.
The warranty company is also refusing to pay for the replacement heat pump. Again, you are paying out of pocket.

If I have this correct, here is my advice. Total the cost of the heat pump, the service call, your premiums up to the amount Arizona allows for small claims court and court cost, and sue them for fraud. You might also want to lawyer up.

I would also cancel the warranty plan and to be safe go to the bank and put a stop payment on any further payments to this company. If the company will not cover the cost of the heat pump, what happens if it is the water heater?

If my assessment is correct, think about my advice. I am not a lawyer but companies like this need to be taken down.

After understanding what is happening, in my opinion, I think the best way to go would be a used body. After seeing other threads about the ABF, it seems, sooner or later it will fail completely leaving you with a camera that can only be used in manual.Thinking about your situation, I do not believe that would be good thing.

Just doing a quick search, I found this; Pentax K-7 Digital SLR Camera Body {14.6 M/P} at KEH Camera

I do not know if you can do this, there is also getting your K30 repaired too.

Photo Taken Date vs Making Date

Just in my opinion, if the rules of the contest state the photo must be made in the last three years, to me, that means the photo must have been taken in the last three years.

See, the way I am looking at this is, if I had a roll of film that I ran through my camera 15 years ago, and I had that roll processed last week. Did I make the photos last week? No I didn't. To me, the words "made" and "taken" are interchangeable in this case and I take them to mean when was the shutter button was pushed.

Like I said, just my opinion. Others may have different opinions.

To answer your questions, there are no digital cameras with a M42 mount. Yes, Pentax does make an adapter to use M42 lenses on the K mount. This is the reason a lot of people praise Pentax. Pentax, as far as I know, is the only company that you can buy a K1mII or a K70 and still use all the lenses that have been made by Pentax, including screw mount (with a simple adapter). The only thing about using the screw mount lenses and manual lenses on the digital cameras is you also need to learn Green Button metering.

Buying a Spotmatic (or another camera with a M42 mount) would be the only way to go if you want to use the screw mount lenses on a native mount.

I think, the first waffle style sole was done on Nike shoes in the early 1970's. I remember hearing something about that either on a PBS station or I read about it. Just not sure about which it was.

I will be honest. I have been waiting for somebody else to ID to see if what I thought is correct. As nobody has ID it yet. I will go ahead and throw out my thought.

As for the brand, I have no idea but it does look like somebody has taken a tripod and attached a second head to it. What I am saying is, it looks like a tripod with a fixed head and a removable head together.

Hey Francisco, I know you are doing your research and everybody on here is giving you some good advice, myself included.

I am going to add a little bit more. Suggestions have been made for the Pentax KP, K5, K5II and k5IIs. If you would like to try out a Pentax just to see how it feels in the hand and not spend a whole lot of money, you might take a look at the K7. It is a very capable camera and for the photos you just posted, it would work well.

One of our members has one for sale right now in the market place;

Pentax K-7 with Battery but no Charger. Works well. - PentaxForums.com

Get a battery charger and put a DA50 on it and see what it will do.

Everybody that has replied to you have given you a lot of information to think about. Now I have one more suggestion that might help in making a decision.

I do not know where you live other than in Europe some place. My suggestion is to see if you have any camera stores close around you that rents cameras and lenses. Contact them and ask if they rent Pentax. If they do, rent a KP and a mid range zoom and give it a try. Being able to hold a camera in a store is one thing but, being able to use it for a week can be a game changer in deciding to buy a different brand of camera then what you already own.

Acceptable to enter a composite photo (not HDR or stitched panorama) in juried event?
Posted By bigdavephoto

Everything all depends on the rules of the contest.

If the contest allows composite images, then, it is ok to enter digital art along with photographs. If the rules state no digital art or, composite photos, Then they are not allowed. Normally rules will state that the original RAW image might be requested to be seen to compare to the submitted image.

If this photographer is known for composite images, and he wins a lot of contest, you might want to read the rules. If the rules state that composites are not allowed and you suspect the the winning image was a composite, yes, you should report it.

I am like you in that if I add an object or animals to a photo or remove a major item from the original photograph, then that is no longer a photograph but has become digital art.
