To be fair, there's something cool about the 70s design aesthetic of the original Adaptall series, which the Adaptall 2 series lacks.

Yeah, that makes sense, with aperture being a ratio. It's just that an 85mm doesn't seem that much longer than a 50mm, but it can have a significantly larger front element, even with a somewhat slower max aperture.

Odd, I thought the 50/1.2 had one of the largest pieces of front glass.

I wonder how the weight of that compares to my A-1 and metal-bodied chrome-nose FD 55/1.2 combo.

All the straight lines make the small deviations that much clearer...especially the roof line.

I think I've actually only used the lens of film, which is its own adventure. If I recall correctly, though, I used the Minolta SR mount adapter on an SRT-102.

Enjoy it while it lasts. ( I don't think the early autofocus cameras will last nearly as long as their predecessors. )

That's a cute little flash.

Yeah, there's a Macro in 50mm, it's the Industar-61 (M42). it's not a 1:1 macro like the Macro-Takumar, though.

The Super Shot may "work", but you'd have to run (and expose) film through it to be sure it really works correctly. If I recall correctly, you have to run film through it to actually see if it winds correctly. If wound correctly, it has automatic film transport (until the spring is unwound).

Shame about the SRT.

Offensive?

I have a dash cam, and I generally only look at the footage if I saw something interesting. Personally, I don't much care about other drivers actions unless they are detrimental to my safety.

For the A mount, one of the tabs would be indexing the manual aperture. If you used it in A mode all the time, that tab would be irrelevant.

I'm pretty sure the other tab indexes the maximum aperture, which absolutely is required.

I have an F-mount adapter that has both the "rabbit ears" and AI. Not sure which generation it is, as it doesn't say.

Suprisingly, though, it fits on the FE without needing to fold down the AI tab, so it is actually useful with both.

K-mount soviet lenses are not that rare.

Two I can think of off hand
  • Helios 44K-4

  • Zenitar-K2 50/2

The bodies are less common, but they aren't too difficult to find on eBay or similar channels.

I suppose you could sort of fake it with a remote shutter cable...

Like a lot of products from dead companies, they always seem better in hindsight :P
