Mallee Boy, I have met Dusty and he said in a email to my Milo that you went away for a few days. ( I'm guessing the Flinders) He said he missed you and he is scared you may have forgotten him now and wont let him inside where its warm. That's why he is staying close. Oh yes, he said he is hoping you will feed him some Barramundi for dinner. :p

K1 Vs K1 Mk2

G'day Grant. I have the K 1 and my wife has the KP. I think I can safely say I am the more experienced Photographer. Been doing it all my life. My wife is good and keeps getting better. She asks me what settings and I bark them out to her weather it be a wedding, landscape or Grandson shot. Her main lens she is using is the 16-85mm. On the K1, mine is 28-105mm. If I was to show you 50 random pics out of both camera's, you would probably like me pick out more KP shots than the K1. I then tried both lenses on the KP. Tripod, same subject and same diameter pics. Cant tell the difference. So I am thinking I should have got two KP's. K1 is good. No doubt about that but KP shades it.

Hopefully we will be down your way soon and you can try them both and see what you come up with.

Mallee Boy and Tony. I will have you know, I am proud to look like I do. You may look younger and cuter Tony but I still get to eat as many bananas as you. One day, you will get to be big and silver like me. Grant, I know you would like to sit around like me and have a scratch now and then. Dusty told me. Brother Tony sent me a picture of you watching motor cross. Its a beauty.

You have a few months to practice Grant. Find a big hill somewhere to walk up and down. Easy for me to say as I have no intention of doing it. :) Left my run to late. Good luck.

DFA 150-450 vs Sigma 150-500

My brother has the 150-450 pentax and I have the 150-500 APO full frame sigma. We havn't had a chance to compare them yet as the sigma wont work on both my wife's KP and my K1. Works perfectly on K5 or K10d. The lens is away at the moment getting a firmware update so that it will work. Common problem I have read here somewhere. Only with KP and K1. When lens comes back we will do a comparison.

I have a 150-500 that I bought in april 2010. Does a great job on K10D, k5, and KX. Updated to a KP and K1 and lens wont work on either. Just locks up. Managed to get a couple of shots with K1 abut then when I tried again, just locked up. Put it back on K5 and it was perfect. Did some research and found its a common problem when attaching the lens to KP and K1. Spoke with C R Kennedy's here in Brisbane and they asked me to bring it in. That they would get a firmware update done on lens. The lens is away at the moment and Kennedy's have been fantastic with there help on the problem. Yes, the lens is a full frame one.

How long are you trying to video for? My wife's KX will do 12 minutes. My K5 will do about 8 minutes. Then the sensor starts to get to hot. Little thermostate comes u on screen. I was told by shop that they wont make DSLR's video for more than 30 minutes at a time. Other wise they have to be called a video camera. No idea if that is correct or not but that's what Canon/Nikon dealer told me few years ago.

Where would you go on east coast USA for fall colors ?

Grant.
Just be careful if you and Ann are photographing all those fall colors this year. If you happen to spot a beautiful lady and a Gorilla, both with Pentax's, one of them, the Gorilla with a 2nd one around his waste looking like Maverick. After all he is a good looking Gorilla. Well run and hide. He will shoot you both for sure and plaster it all over facebook and Pentax Forums. anywhere else he can think of. Just a warning. :D

Your good buddy Keith.

Travel Photo Kit - Advice Welcomed!

I agree with you Mallee Bull.:) I dont go anywhere without the 50-135. Ive been in there twice and its been fantastic. Did everything i wanted. Quality is good enough to crop pretty hard and its great for stitching. Anything any wider, my wife covered with her kit 18-55. Not hard to stitch quite a few together taken hand held. So with what you have there i'd go with the 17-50 plus 50-135.

Have a great time. Be awesome.

We have lucky enough to have been to South Rim twice. In May 2010 and May 2013. First time had good weather. 2nd time not so good. Lots of smoke from fires. Love the place. We were told to watch the sunset there and stay for few minutes after the sun has gone down. Well worth it as the sun shone up through the canyon bringing out the colors. This one in 2010. K0D

Favourite part for us was probably hopping on the shuttle bus and going out to Yaki Point. Amazing. Every corner we walked around was a completely different scene. We were the only ones there and never gave it a thought that Yogi or a big pussy might be watching us.

Thats right Grant. Cant really see for sure in this one but when it was blown up to the 900x600mm you certainly could. Ive been told i need a bigger house to hang it though. :( . I should put my old profile pic back up i think. It was the natural me as you know. Its uncomfortable wearing a human mask. :)

Thank you rod_grant. That was taken with my old K10 and the 50-135. 20 odd thousand pics later, i still cant fault that lens.

Im sure it is as well. This guy who i believe had a birthday a couple of days ago, :) was using a K5, K5IIs and a K3 and a lot of his pics can be seen on his Global Action Photography website. He let me have a hold of his K3 for about 3 seconds and then i was told to put it carefully back down, lol. I think he he really loves his Pentax's. :)
