Hoping that since the last time I checked, this might have been added (if possible) via firmware update..
Most cameras cannot record larger than 4GB per file, but they automatically roll to the next file if necessary for "continuous" shooting. Right now I have to constantly monitor the remaining time in order to stop the camera and restart to a new file. Would be awesome if the K-1, K-01, etc be updated to do this automatically.
For true films, a scene would rarely be longer than the limit. But for this day of video blogging and how to videos, one shot could be quite lengthy.
Any ideas on remedying this? A good alternate camera option if not? Or does it exist and I've missed it?

How many "frames per second" will you be processing? :)

Great deal except for the ink down the road. Non-refillable (have to reset chip like Keurig K-cups do now).... Have Pro-10 just sitting in my hallway. Found some cheaper ink, but learned the perils of that as one cartridge had the wrong chip so the printer wouldn't accept it (other cartridges were fine). What a mess.
Got another Canon 13x19 printer that uses the same ink my own all-in-one uses and does an excellent job. Ink from Amazon is about $14 for TWO sets of tanks. I just buy and keep them on hand.
Pro-1, Pro-10, Pro-100 are VERY nice printers. But not for home use.

Yeah, was going to be unattended. I had the K-1 myself and shot start and stop as needed (though I used stabilization on a monopod thinking I would need it for wobble... guess my hands are too steady!). The K-01 and K-3 were going to be unattended, but I just shot back by there and reactivated the shutter on each.
The best solve would be for Pentax/Ricoh just auto roll to a new file.

Thought the same thing. In fact, it seems our church Canon true video recorder does this same thing. Or I didn't format the new SD cards in camera, so it did. 30 minute chunks, but that's all good. But it seems obvious to just flow into a second file if space permits.
It was a problem with the K-5 or K-7 in the past, cannot remember which. Inside, in the winter. It'd get a yellow or red temp sensor and lock up.
They handled just fine. The K-01 can do about 16 minutes. The K-3 did 20. I thought the K-3 would not need to be restarted, but the wedding order was slightly different than I'd expected and had to get to the front, start it one more time, only to have the first bridesmaid stand right in front of it! :)
The K-01 and K-1 did fine though. Had to restart the K-01 a couple of times (restart = start recording again). I like that it does a countdown timer vs. the others which just start counting upwards from 0 when recording.
K-1 was monopod mounted and I used it to create smaller segments.
Now onto Premiere Pro (after backing all the files up first!)
Thanks all!

Do these still have a limit of about 20-25 minutes video recording in one "take".
Also what about overheating? My K-5 or K-7 used to overheat recording video.
Shooting a wedding tomorrow and have the church's Canon video recorder for one fixed angle, but using two of my DSLRs for alternate angles to mix together in Premiere Pro afterwards. Service might be 30+ minutes. The Canon will pick up the main shot, but I know I will probably have to get to one of the cameras and stop/start recording (which is doable), but not if the camera is going to overheat on me too :)
The third, most likely the K-1 will be in my person (monopod) for more dynamic angles and quick fill shots.
I normally shoot video with the K-01 (in my studio for game unboxings, etc...) and it has not gone yellow, but those videos are only about 10-15 minutes each.
Thoughts?

If this is wrong forum, I apologize and please relocate.
When I was in Florida, two guys were toting around their Canon gear at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. They had shoe mounted flashes, but in front of them they had a lens type thing to magnifying or scatter the flash. I'd never seen anything like it in my years of photography and they got away before I could ask directly. It was not a bounce per se, the flash was pointed dead ahead and this refractor or whatever was dead in front of it. Not attached to the flash head, but just sitting about 6 inches away.
It was like a flat piece of prismatic plastic maybe? Reminded me of the lens on a lighthouse or headlight that magnifies the tiny bulb output.
Sadly "flash" and "lens" produce way too many false positives on Google, so I'm hoping the good folk here know what the heck it was I saw.

Nope... Pretty eerie result given the parameters of my shoot. Probably great in most cases, but definitely something I'll check for next time... I just wouldn't have figured any sort of SR/OIS for video as the default. But as I'm only 1 week into my new beast, just a feature I didn't know about.
Thanks!

Edit: Used the term OIS incorrectly, figuring it applied to ALL forms of image stabilization and not just lens-based. I meant digital shake reduction in camera. Apologies for the confusion. :)
Just shot some quick video today of kids at church answering some questions about VBS. I'm putting this together for a small segment to run during a future service.
Was using the K1 and the Sigma 70mm Macro. I didn't think to check if OIS was on (tripod mounted), but assumed it would not be since it's video and the subjects would be expected to move anyway, right? :)
Anyway, when watching the playback I noticed the oddest thing. The backdrop behind the kids would move. There was no AC or blower going and when I checked it during the shoot, I saw no motion. But it appeared on screen, the lines in the backdrop swayed some from left to right or right to left as the kids were just talking (and naturally shifting subtly on their feet).
It's not a problem and won't impede using the video shot, but I found it interesting. Only thing I could think of was that the OIS was compensating for the child's sway and doing some sensor shift or something, resulting in this apparent motion?
Had I been able to blur the background a little more with distance (room was a bit small) I probably wouldn't have noticed it.
