Thinking of buying a Nikon/Canon body just for 11-16mm or 12-24mm Tokinas.

I bought a D7100 for exactly this purpose. The 11-16 would be very nice for pentax, but I know they would just double or treble the price. I had the D7100 and a very very sharp 18-140 nikkor for a couple of weeks, but trying to keep track of what the camera was setting itself to was really problematic, it seemed to keep the shutter at 1/2000th and 6400 iso and I could not always tell. I would suggest you play with a nikon as the pentax viewfinder and menus are much better. I still hanker for that 18-140 though, it makes the 18-135 blush in embarressment.

Freeman is very good, I like his approach. You might also look at these guys Portraits of Earth - Craft & Visiontheir books are pretty good value and they are a good mix of technique and inspiration. They have this one as a free taster, worth the download.

Do you want to buy from the UK? These guys have the two DHG variants. I am about to order one of these, I have had very good use out of the DHG lens protect filters from Marumi so I expect the CPL to be as good.

viewfinder cover?

Yes, it just depends which way you orientate the camera. I think this was 'shutter button up'. I was a bit annoyed when I saw this on my Kx (I don't think I ever saw it on the K100d) and had hoped it would go away with the better built K5

Here is an example of light leaking in through the viewfinder. Not only does it affect exposure, it can affect the image. This is done with a ND110 filter, so it is a 30 second exposure with the sun behind me and to the right. You can see the effect on exposure by putting the camera on a tripod and watching the meter reading change as you place your finger over the viewfinder.

He he ;-) yes, I had thought of that! Sadly, it is the potential length of time without the camera that puts me off getting it done. Roll on debug for K5

Like they did with the focus adjust in the Kr, the fact we could do it in debug mode suggests it could have been added to the firware. How quickly do you think they would find an end user solution to this problem if we all returned our K5's en-masse for repair under warranty?

Someone once reminded me that the moon is lit by the sun, so should be exposed as you would for a daylight shot. I have tried a couple of times and set the camera to manual and use the 'sunny 16' rule. ie - set your iso then set the lens to f16 then set the shutter speed to 1/iso. So for iso 200 start off with 1/250 or so, for iso 400 1/350. As a rough starting guide it is pretty helpful. I get good exposures but rubbish focus and frame filling ability ;-)
