Item for Sale
two odds, one end (M150/3.5, DA40xs, Rikenon 70-150/4)

Asking Price
135.00 USD

Item Location
Longview (United States)

Item Description
A few curiosities are not being used, and I've just left my job for a few months (or maybe more) to address some family issues. Time to convert these into living expenses (and closet space!).

$SOLD - Pentax smc-M 150mm f/3.5
Ex condition visually and mechanically.

$105 now $95 Pentax DA40mm f/2.8 XS
The micro-pancake, a Limited 40 in sheep's clothing. No quick shift, nothing but a focus ring really :p Comes with both caps plus two step-up rings to make a semi-shade that would need a 34mm front cap. Zero issues.

$40 Rikenon XR 70-150mm f/4 'macro'
A fun little lens that I've enjoyed and reviewed here. A fairly compact and dense zoom, all manual. Takes 52mm filters and lens shade is built in. Internal zoom is nice, keeping the lens essentially the same size and f/4 throughout the zoom range. I tested it against my 55-300 once and sharpness was competitive at 150mm but cooler colors. Goes to 1:4 'macro' at 70mm end. Rikenons only click on full apertures, but the lens is in excellent condition especially for its age!

Just bought another copy of this little crpe lens :) I've invested more into 43 lately, but this is ideal with that kit between my 20/1.7 and 60/2.8!

Hm, I was thinking of the same lens! :)
Perhaps I'll go with my Rikenon XR 70-150 f/4, on Av so wide open only? It's been a while since I played this event, hope I keep it up better than I used to :o

I had a budget crunch and stepped from K-5 to K200d. Farewell to 4-digit isos but still very talented and foul-weather friendly :) I got a silly deal on an 18-50re, they make a nice team.

A larger sensor CCD camera should be experienced by all.

I paid $85 for my silver K200d, and under $50 for an 18-50re. Great poor-weather combo and a bargain too.

The more I look into this topic, the more my head aches :hmm:
YI states that their M1 does corrections, so I presume that it corrects other brands too? Since TruePic VII (EM1/10) Oly bodies claim to perform the magic with Lumix lenses.. so perhaps the YI 12-40 is corrected in my EM10. But how about Sigma lenses, those reverse-engineering mount specialists: do they conform to the cameras' expectations?

The more I read, the more I see we're all in the same boat. Nearly every post comes from someone who believes they understand it all, but each has a slightly different subtlety that suggests we're not all saying the same thing. I wish these things had an "all corrections off" that I could be certain would do exactly that.

I'm not going to waste a bunch of time testing for variations though, life's too short for that. If someone has a definitive statement on this, I'd like to spend 15 more minutes on the topic and be done! :p

I use native m43 primes at 7.5/14/20/30mm then shift to Pentax A50/1.7, M100/2.8 and M200/4. I have zooms also (12-40, 45-150, Zuiko 70-300 FT) so I can play versatile or small/fast. The M100/2.8 needs a click or two for best results, but both systems are in-body stabilized (K200, GX7, EM10).

---------- Post added 12-28-19 at 19:56 ----------

Curiously enough my 'standard zoom' is the xiaoYi 12-40 f/3.5-5.6  In my tests with several others it performed comparably and I liked its range. What really sold me was that Oly/Lumix bodies (apparently) do not autocorrect off-brand lenses for distortions - but this lens matches up with the corrected shots! Sure wish it zoomed the Lumix direction, but now I have the 4thirds 70-300 so each zoom makes me think before twisting. Just kidding: I don't think I just twist and act like I meant that result

Can you recommend a mirrorless system?

If you're going with older gear, the Panasonic bodies used the same UC-E6 connector as Pentax until recently (GX80/85 and later). Older Olympus bodies use a different one (Cb-usb8).

I've stopped mid-snark more than once, seen the road i was taking was all downhill and clicked away. I'm really clever so it's hard to deprive folks of my "wit" and "wisdom" :o - but we're all better for it.

I've found a few deals at shopgoodwill, though nothing has caused me to bid so high. I always check for "49mm" or "52mm" lenses since they don't know focal length from filter size at times ;)
Glad you got what you wanted, hope all parts are in great condition! I'd love to see an LX, it's been a while since I saw one..

K1 and Kirk Tuck

Kirk has swapped away his K-1 (and large collection of Fuji) gear, it seems. The Lumix S1 meets his needs for photo and video. He definitely shades more to video and EVF than most Pentaxians, so it's the sensible choice for him. I love the S-series concept but if anything I'd be a Sigma fp user for L-mount. My budget is far below either choice so it's all rhetorical to me :o

I miss my Quantaray 300/5.6 mirror, it was a good one. I now have a Sakar 500/8, still small & light and ~ 1:2 closeup ability. Must grab a tripod and check it out in more detail.
