I don't know about the total sales numbers, but I do know that my local camera store just sold a black, body only K-S2. :D
I've only had time to do the initial set up but I'm pleased with what I see so far.

It's been three days and still no response from the Forum staff. Perhaps they haven't noticed this thread. If everyone who would like to see a full review of the K-S2 would reply to this thread maybe we could bring this thread to their attention.

Yes I would like to see a detailed review of this camera. In particular I want to know how it compares to my K-5 IIs.

Like the others here, I'm very pleased with the results that I'm getting with this new lens. The shot of the Canada Goose is cropped to about 1/3 of the original. It was shot in raw and converted to jpeg in Photoshop. I did minor sharpening and shadow adjustments and used Topaz to remove the noise in the sky.
The other shots are hand held 5 shot bracketed exposures, merged in Photomatix Pro and then finished in Photoshop and Topaz. |

I always seem to be able to justify getting a new camera because of some new and better feature that it might have. This is despite the fact that my existing camera was good enough for my skill level at the time. Since May 2009 I have purchased a Pentax Km (since sold), K-7 and a K-5 IIs. In addition I have a Fujifilm water proof camera, three Panasonic LUMIX's and a Sony RX100 III. If the K3 had a tilting LCD I would have one of those by now.
I voted "because I want to upgrade" but in reality I just love buying new gear!

Yes, I'm waiting for Pentax to introduce an APSC mirroless camera along the lines of the A6000. My collection of compact Pentax lens's would be a great fit on a camera like that. :)

In Canada the McBain Camera website is showing the K-5 IIs , body only as in stock. With the 18-135 WR it is shown as low quantities. The K-5 II with the 18-135 WR is listed as out of stock. So it does appear that supplies are slowing down.
I find it odd that they continue to show show the K-5 with 18-135 WR at a price of $1599.95 but out of stock. By comparison the K-3 with 18-135 WR is listed at $1199.95.

I was at that trade show and I thought that the Ricoh-Pentax display was just as good as any of the other brands. I did notice that very impressive telescope Dr_Who!
The rep. that I talked to seemed to be very knowledgeable and approachable. I have the K-5 IIs and he brought up the K-3 as a worthwhile upgrade.
My issue is that I want a DSLR with a tilt screen and I will not upgrade until one is available. I like low angle shots but I'm old and while I can get down to take low angle's I have a real hard time getting back up. As Pentax has a weather sealed tilt screen on the 645Z I'm hoping that it won't be long until we see it on a APSC . The rep. hinted that if I wait until early 2015 that I wouldn't be disappointed.

I like how HDR brings out the background and muscle tone in people but it also emphasizes imperfections in the skin. If you use HDR for portraits be prepared to spend time with the healing brush to clean these up. I think that it is worth the extra pp time.

I did one back in the 70's before every guest had a camera and it turned out OK. I did another for my brother-in-law in the 80's. The pictures turned out great but I was really bugged by the negative comments from the brides family about my choice of location before the shoot. That was the last for me! These days it seems that every guest and their dog has a camera and are are always getting in the way of the hired photographer. That would really bother me.

I just added the WR version of the 100mm macro to my collection and this was my first outing with it. I had the non-WR version but the reviews indicated that this one will give me better IQ. The main thing was that I wanted to have the WR version to go with my 18-135 WR and my 55-300 WR.
My first impressions with the new lens are very good, very sharp and solid feel. |
