Thanks mate, I contemplated adding a reflector to add some light to the other side but decided I liked it with the shadows, so all in all it worked out alright

Ah ok, I see what you've done, try taking the pics from the open top instead, with your colours underneath the tub, that way you'll be able to focus on the bubbles themselves and not the tub

Without the glass on top you should be able to nail focus on the bubbles themselves, therefore cleaning them up

Seeing your asking for advice I'll give my experiences. I messed around with this a few years back, try without the glass with water on it and lighting it from different positions, underneath, side, diagonal, above, etc.
All trial and error really to find a composition and lighting you like.
Are you using a static light source or a strobe?
