There are so many new condo projects in the neighbourhood (including the one in behind, built since 2012) they seem to be running out of names for them.

It doesn't seem long ago that this spread to Canada from the U.S.

Taken at Toronto's Eaton Centre today, Black Friday (not sure if you have this outside North America - major pre-Christmas sales). It's meant to be a searing indictment of consumerism, but I had to put down the bag containing my new shoes to get the settings right before I could take it. Black Friday by Steven, on Flickr

I'm happy with the way my DA* 300 is performing at the moment, but if there is to be a re-do it should also include an improvement to those fragile electrical contact tabs (and the ones on the 1.4x TC as well). I don't think I'm clumsy when changing lenses but they get bent out or, worse, broken from time to time.

Great shots - presumably taken at sundown?

Great shot of an interesting animal. How easy are they to find in the wild? I thought there was only one kind - how many kinds are there?

Thanks Chris. That's actually an occupied building in the last shot - a very quirky wall facing the street.

One advantage of the GR-III is that you can take images through security fencing with a 1" wide mesh without the blurring or whatever that might come with a wider lens. Derelict 1 by Steven, on Flickr Derelict 2 by Steven, on Flickr Blue by Steven, on Flickr

A well-loved lens doesn't turn into a turkey overnight just because a new option comes along. Besides, the images you posted on the 15mm ltd thread just recently don't look so bad.

I went down to the store today to take another look at the converter. For me, It's bulky and must weigh at least as much as the camera itself, so it loses out on the pocketabllity and "stealth" of the original camera. Also the required adaptor adds a significant additional expense. I'm very happy with the GR-III for its intuitiveness and picture quality, but I have a K-3 and a 15mm Limited lens for wide angle work when bulk and weight aren't an issue.

The Spit (otherwise known as Tommy Thompson Park) is open after 4.00 during the week but of course that won't give you much daylight. It's about 8km to the bridge and back - you could take your own or a bike share bike but the road can be very icy. It is a very good spot - there were over 200 Long tails there yesterday, lots of Scaup, Goldeneye and Bufflehead but lighting can be difficult. Just adding a shot from last year to whet your appetite! These days I'm closing down the aperture a bit to get more depth of field. Long-tailed Ducks (males) by Steven, on Flickr
