New K-3 III video from Ricoh: OVF face, eye and bird detection is coming.

The sample comparisons between K-3III and K-1II makes me think that maybe in the future if I will be blessed with extra cash, I'd get one or two. Who knows. I'm more of an image quality guy than a guy who cares about other perks like video and etc. Great to see such improvement.

I'm gonna moan with you. I've been moaning over a fix so we can use the 55-300 plm on the the k-5 series. I'd be happy to get one if I can use it on my k-5II.

K-3 Mark III reviews in the Japanese press

It sounds like it's not a k-3II ,d7xxx level. It seems like it's a cut above that level. Maybe d500 level or a little lower. Maybe the price range is justifiable.

At What Point Did Your Pentax Digital Camera Become "Good Enough"?

I'd say, from the very first time I used my first Pentax DSLR (K-5II). I was wowed by the image quality it gave the first time I used it. And that was pure simple jpeg directly out of the camera. When I used raw my commitment to the system became deeper making me expand my system. I just hope they'll continue with the K-mount. If they do, I think this is the final system for me.

K-70 replacement model?

Just my wild guess. If it will be a 5 camera product line, it will the k70 level, KP level, k3III, k-1 and I hope a 645 replacement. But I guess that'll be very heavy product line to maintain. :):):)

I hope they'll come up with a KP replacement. It would be nice to have a retro cam in the product line. Lovely looking camera with a great performance. :):):)

I hope there will be no shutter lag when using non-Pentax flash like what I experienced with my K3-II.

Hyper Program vs TAv

OT. TAv is native to Pentax and I use it a lot when I shoot action shots. I also use it when taking low light shots inside museums so I can still have raw files as I shoot Raw + JPEG. Other brands would have to go manual mode and set the ISO to auto to come up with the same function as TAv. I'm just curious, are the results of TAv vs manual mode with auto ISO of other brands the same? I know Pentax can't go to auto ISO in manual mode.

Buying a new camera body

The solenoid problem pushed me away from buying a brand new KS2 last year. I would avoid the models that use that solenoid. No matter how good they say those models are, I wouldn't like to have to go through that problem. If you like a brand new machine, KP is the way to go. For second hand items, if you can find a good K-3II or KP would be fine. If you don't mind that your camera can't use KAF4 lenses go for the K-5II/s.

Is Pentax still appealing for beginners in photography?

I'd still like to see a K-70 successor. I hope the solenoid problem will be resolved in the future models. The K-70 is quite a good choice for beginners. I just hope its successor will be fairly priced to entice those with budget constraints.

The price of the K-3 III (context/speculation, not inside info)

Despite the fact that it's being made here in the Philippines, it will be quite expensive here for sure. We still have to see what this baby can actually do. I mean will be at same level of the D500 or the D7500? The level of this camera will say if its too expensive or not.

Favorite body and lens for street photography
Posted By totsmuyco

Street photography to some would be a small body with a wide angle lens. The reason behind what they're saying this is, you wouldn't want to attract attention using a large body and a big lens. Secondly, street photography masters would like to get close to the subject. Chatting with people is a great plus for them. But I have seen work of others using longer lenses and I can't argue that they have mastered street photography using longer lenses.

Anyway, as some of us here said, use what's comfortable for you. As far as I'm concerned, use what you have and enjoy taking pictures. Develop your own style and master it. We are all different and our photographic expressions will always be unique from each other. Good luck :):):)

Is Pentax still appealing for beginners in photography?

But having a touch shutter will be quite uncomfortable to the user. To my simple understanding when you say touch, a simple touch will instruct the camera to take a picture. This will then require you to lift your finger prior to taking the shot. Firstly this position is unnatural. Secondly, the AF including the AFS has to be super fast and accurate as earlier stated, with a simple touch the camera exposes a picture. Of course technology as made major leaps and bounds since the creation of the micro-chip. Who knows how that'll work.

Anyway I'm a simple photographer with simple needs. Pentax, please don't do that to our shutter button.:lol::lol:

To buy or not to buy the Pentax 28-105, or the question of walking-around with a K1

You bought a FF camera because of the image quality it can give you. Maximize it. Use FF lenses. If you have the cash get it. No offense but, it would be an insult to your K1 not to maximize it's potential.

I think there was some rumor of a video oriented camera. I think this will be an APS-C can rather than FF. But who knows? I might be wrong.

I do not understand...dust inside a WR lens?

I don't know if I'm right or is just me but I try to avoid changing lenses when I go for a shoot as I try to avoid dust going to the camera sensor and into the back of the lens. That's why I bring 2 cams when I shoot. One for the long end and the other for the short end.
