Can existing owner of this lens give me some pointer how to put this thing to good use?

Took these over the new years last/this year in Montreal. I was lucky (from the perspective of taking good photos) we got hammered with 2 feet of snow while I was there..

Yeah examples will help.

Do you have the same blur with a brighter environment? What was the shutter set to and what is the aperture size?

I agree, the entire series is great! My personal favourite is 2,4 and 5.

But I think 2 and 5 looks slightly saturated, did you do any post processing on these?

thanks, thats a helpful hint.. and the measurement does make sese, though i have a bigger problem, i have a 77mm portrait (just ordered it, waiting... :)), for me to be close enough without interfering the light, I wil have to be standing quite far from the subject, since the subject is 6 feet away from the light..

hmmmmm

Pentax was founded in 1919 as Asahi Optical Joint Stock Co. In 1938 it changed its name to Asahi Optical Co., Ltd

Takumar is just a name that was given to the Asahi Optical lenses, named after Takuma Kajiwara.

Takumar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In short, yes, its still a Pentax

Hope this helps

I am sure there were plenty of debate on this, but which one is better in what way?

I was told that:

Pentax: Sharpest image
Nikon: Balance in speed and image quality
Canon: Fastest

Is this true? What do you think?

I know there are bigger player out ther like Mamiya and such, but these are not affordable (at least I can't afford them :))

Let me know what your opinion is, it may change my purchasing decision. Right now I have plans to purchase a second body, a K10 (So that i can reuse my lenses).

Let me know :)

Thanks for the pointer and suggestion guys. I will definitely try focusing manually. The problem there is that my vision is not the greatest, especially peeking through the viewfinder.. i sometimes (just sometimes, thank god) can't even read the settings i am using (the little illuminated indication in the viewfinder)

I will definitely let her know that there were such comments made of her, stay tune for more when I do get my props for the other 2 :)

Thanks again guys. Practice.. back to Practice :)

Thats actually my student from years ago. I used to teach martial art and self defense at community centres. I actually have 2 people that will model for me (professional models) for free, so I should be able to pull something if i can come up with the proper props.

That pic is good, except that the hair was kinda messy :)

These are my true first attempt with portrait, i do more structure, landscape and cars.. i will definitely practice more. And thanks for the pointers, it definitely help. Lets hope that portrait lens i ordered can compensate a bit for the lack of skills in me :)
