M42 Enlarger Lens adaptaer help?

M42 is unusual for an enlarging lens. I suspect the most common is Leica 39mm. Are you going to use this on an enlarger? On an enlarger the focusing system is part the enlarger. If you are wanting to use the lens for taking pictures you will need to have a focusing bellows of the type commonly used for close focusing. No adapter changes the focal length of the lens. I have used a 100mm enlarging lens for close-up pictures with my Pentax bellows II unit.

Making the lens cover a bigger format reduces light. There was an adapter for Nikon F cameras called the "speed magny" that made regular 35mm format lenses cover 3 1/4 X 4 1/4 polaroid film. It was huge and there was a 5 f/stop light loss.

It has a semi-automatic diaphragm. You have to manually open it up but it closes down automatically when you take the picture.

67II bodies don't have the issue. 67 bodies use the "same" meter system as 6X7 cameras. Same is in quotation marks because early prisms use cds cells and later ones use silicon blue cells. I don't know how to tell them apart except by disassembly.

when did Pentax stop putting a " passed " sticker on lens and camera bodies

Cameras were not individually inspected. The manufacturer got rolls of stickers to put on the product after JCII checked one out. I suspect the stickers went into disuse when Canon and Pentax started having things made outside Japan.

If high shutter speeds didn't come out and slower speeds did, I suspect it needs re-adjustment of the shutter curtain travel times. Sometimes cameras that have not been used for a while take a bit of use before that stabilizes. Anyway, you need to send it back to get re-done.

The case has to be removed to load film. Manufacturers called them eveready cases. Many people called them never ready cases. I used a small camera bag on those days.

Super Zoom 105: shutter issues? Auto winding?

Zoom point and shoot cameras have a ribbon flex that goes between the shutter and the main circuit board. When the lens zooms the flex circuit folds back on itself. After years of use microfractures get generated and the circuitry can't talk back and forth. There is no repair other than replacing parts that are no longer are available.

In hot weather the focusing helix grease can evaporate and condense on the diaphragm blades in a film so thin as to be invisible. Cold weather lets you know it is there.

Wow. You need a new top cover. People talk as if metal tops don't fail. They can and do. I have seen some of Nikon's nice cast top covers cracked, but it is tough to know how much force was involved. I have been surprised by the durability of fiberglass filled polycarbonate parts. It would be nice to do some accurate testing. Anyone want to donate their camera?

A friend of mine was working at a minilab in Santa Cruz, CA. A woman brought her camera in to get the film unloaded and developed. He opened the back and saw that there was no film. He said " that's unfortunate". She said " if I tell you what I took pictures of can you print them anyway?" ( This is a true story ) So she was just a little too early with her request.

A junk SP500 or SP1000 is cheaper and the part is the same. I would suggest a Spotmatic but you might get a 231 Spotmatic instead of the 23102 version.

Off-the-film metering after the Pentax LX

The LX was the only Pentax to have that feature. It is tough to know why. Was Pentax paying Olympus to use the patent? Every feature has a cost. Did eliminating that feature make Super Program to P series more affordable even if they weren't paying to use a patent? I like the feature but rarely use it and do use shutter priority and sometimes even program mode.

The KX uses a battery holder on the cap for its two batteries, like the Minolta. The tough part is getting solder to stick on the stainless steel. Caig no clean soldering flux is supposed to work but i haven't tried it.

A135/2.8, focus ring become loose

Commonly, Pentax MF lenses require you to remove the name ring, exposing three screws that hold the filter ring on. After removing the filter ring you can see the three screws that hold the focusing ring onto the focusing helix. Tighten one screw, carefully focus to infinity, loosen the screw and align the focusing ring. then tighten all of the screws. You may need to try to get infinity focus correct more than once.

If it fits neatly behind the front lens group I would guess it is a shim that goes there.

Pentax Spotmatic Stuck Mirror: But wait, it's different
Posted By pentaxus
Replies: 4
You pushing the shutter button releases the mirror. When the mirror gets far enough up it fires the shutter. It sounds like the mirror box levers could need to be lubricated. That requires removal of the front panel. If you decide to remove the front panel be careful to keep track of where the shims go that are under where the front panel screws go in. If you take the top off you need to know that the screw holding the counter disc is left hand thread as is the ring holding the counter cap holder in place.

I like the colors on my K-50 and K-10 better than the colors on my K-10 or istD, but I don't like the factory preset colors on the k-50/k-3 either. It is personal preference.
