What do I say????

When the client asks who I use for prints??? I use mpix so of course if they go online and see their prices they are going to flip at my mark up. What do I say??? I'm just now getting into print sales. I've just been selling the cd up until now.

Also, they want to know what to wear. It's a group of two families and their parents. So six adults and two kids. They want some all together, some of families separate, and just kids.

Any advice is GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!

Kunik, thank you for reviewing these and your c&c! I will look up that link w/ diffuser info. I know I really need one. I've heard the Gary Fong ones are really good. and, yes, so far the couple is thrilled w/ what I've shown them so far. I have a facebook account for my photography and she's stolen what I posted so far and used them as her profile pics. (which is fine w/ me. I've been paid). and I've looked at the comments her friends and family have left on them and they're all good. But of course there is ALWAYS room for improvement!

D. Bradley, Thank you also for your opinion. I was using an off cameraflash. 540fgz, but it was pointed directly at them and was "naked" so to speak. I don't have a difuser yet. I know I need one bad! I will get back on PS and see if I can't make the fill flash look a little less harsh.

I never noticed their hands. That is a good point for me to pay attention to on my next shoot. Thanks again!

Flipp, thank you for your C&C. I do think I should crop down some of the sky in the first one. Also, you're right about the background int he second beinh too backlit. I burned it a little nbit, but it still seemed too bright. I'll work on that. and maybe the upload compressed the detail in the shadows. Not sure. I know they do look better on mine. Thanks again!

Thank you very much Jim. I certainly love photogrpahy. I must say though that working full time, being a single mom, and doing this on weekends is tough!! It's only been a month that Iv'e really been doing it consistently, but w/ work, shooting, and editing, it's like over 60hrs I put in a week.... I know it's the only way my dream will become a reality though... Maybe one day I can quit the day job!!!!

I like #2 for sure better. The only thing is, why is the lighter area in the center of the pic instead of on the shoes? Seems like it's higlighting the grass. Also, it looks like there was a lot of burning done around the shoes. How did the ground look there? Not good? But my opion is overall #2 is nice.

Beautiful blur!! I really wish I could afford a new lens. All I have right now is my 18-55 kit lens which it's largest aperture is 3.5 and a 28-105 and it's largest is 5.6. I'd really really really like the 16-50mm 1.8!!! I think it's 1.8??? I can't remember. I just know I want it! Lol!

thanks for your opionion Netuser. I guess I just do a lot of random shooting and the mom specifically asked for the one where he chased the ball and when he looked through the railing. She told me "get that" as we were shooting. Lol!

Thank Taff and Ash. Taff, for the B/W conversions I have two diff actions I use. One is Splendor B/W and the other a chocolate B/W. The cohocolate one tends to be brighter and I generally use it if the other is too dark. When the splendor is too dark and I try to lighten it, it tends to really blow out the light colors. So, some look better with one and some with the other....
Ash, I can definitely try to darken up the background in the one w/ the father. That's a good idea. Iwill try that later. Thanks to you both again!

Thanks flipp, I agree w/ 3&4 not having enough face, but I was just trying to catch the moment. I don't personally like #4 much, but the mom specifically pointed that out when he was looking throught the railing and said she wanted one like that. The white is definitely blown out in the last one. I'll work on that tonight and repost to see what you think. The first may seem soft bc of the color pop action I added to it. I'll look into that as well...

Thanks again!! :)

What do you think of these pics? He's not looking at the camera in any of them. I do like a lot of more candid stuff myself, but do you think the mom and dad will be happy with these? I do have some where he is looking, but not too many...

Also, any critique on them??

Thanks!

Wow! Thanks everyone for your advice! Looking at flickr examples as Kristoffon said and actually printing and bringing some along as autumsbliss said are really great ideas! Also, arpe, I definitely plan to use a tripod, but your comment really emphasizes it's importance!

I am doing my first engagement shoot this sun. Does anyone have any advice as pertains to this type of shoot? Good poses, etc...

Also, this sat I have my first multi family shoot. One family of four and another of five. The women are sisters and want a big portrait done of both their familys for their parents for xmas. I'll also be doing the families separate and kids separate. There are a total of five kids. I'm kinda nervous I won't be able to get them all to look at once! Any advice in this area would be greatly appreciated as well....

Thanks!! :)

Wow! Those are beautiful! Can I just ask how you got them to have so much contrast with no post processing? It seems anytime I want that look I have to do some editing.
