Is focus peaking that bright on K-01?

I set the color to yellow on my 5R and it's great. However Sony peaking doesn't work well in magnified view, especially under low light - I think K-01 is a little better at this.

Make sure you have the latest firmware, and give it some time so you can adjust to the more leisure pace of this camera. There were only 2 things that it got in stride - the unique design which I like very much, and fire sale low price which probably isn't true anymore.
AF performance is just not up to today's mirrorless standard, but it's not too bad once you're accustomed. If you bought it expecting performance then it's probably a mistake. However there's no other camera like it, so that might be some consolation there :)

I like this one. Do you have the "naturally vignetted" version? :D

Kirk Tuck isn't one of them. He loves the design, so much that he doesn't care about the rest. I find myself reacting the same way about this camera. To say that he loves it for the output is misreading his posts IMO - if that were the case he could've gone out and buy a Pentax DSLR which would produce the same or even better output. Why didn't he do that?

Your wish has been granted :D

Yes it can be good on its own merit. In this case the merit is the design. K-01 is all about design. Completely the opposite of the statement that if you can deal with the design then the rest is great. Well the rest is not great - it's on par or maybe a little above par in some aspects, while sucks badly in others. It's the Marc Newson design that is great.

That is emotional bias, no? And that is exactly what I'm saying too. This camera is good, but not in a technicality sense. It just makes the user feel good about taking picture. And the main reason for that is the design.

Well he said here on his blog post that K-01 is better than D800 or any other modern cam - Ripe Camera: I'm so angry at myself. It's all about a lack of foresight...

And how do you quantify "jumping out"? The whole article leaves lots of room for interpretation.
You have your way of perceiving it, and I have mine. Did I force anyone to agree with my version of interpretation, or insult anyone who disagrees? My original post says clearly *I think* he means a differently. Are you offended by what I think?

I'm just pointing out that Mr. Tuck has treated the K-01 with emotional bias, which is fine by me as I love my K-01 the same way. Do I need to be the final authority to just talk around here?

If that works for you, then by all means. From what I see though, in the field or not, IQ of the D800 is in a different league.

Because I've been using both K-01 and NEX-5R, and there's absolutely nothing special about the Pentax's RAW output. But it could be better in JPEG, which I never tried. Besides, he's been very emotional about the K-01, calling it better than a D800 :D Ripe Camera: I'm so angry at myself. It's all about a lack of foresight...

So there, the meanings of his words are sometimes not on the surface.

It's a tough sell especially when they see the Nikon kit with 24MP selling for $100 less than the Pentax kit.

Yup I read that blurb too John, but it sounds to me like an emotional assessment. It could be that the Jpeg engine in the K-01 is better, but I don't think that's the main reason he loves the cam so much. But whatever the case, I'm glad the K-01 get the recognition it derserves.

I think Mr. Tuck means it exactly the opposite - the looks is the strongest asset of the K-01 in his shooting of people and especially kids. Specs wise the K-01 got nothing on the GH3 or A99.

I thought his crush on the K-01 would soon vanish. But apparently I was wrong. And it never felt this good to be so wrong :D

I'd point people to this blog by Kirk Tuck and tell them to go get a K-01. While they still can.

Is focus peaking that bright on K-01?

Focus peaking on the K-01 isn't very bright until you zoom in 4x to 6x. The it becomes very bright and sensitive, great to nail accurate focus. I wish the zoom feature could be assigned to red or green button instead of just the OK, which is hard to reach in active shooting.

An old lens and an adapter on top still can't reduce the sharpness of it. Awesome.
A little correction - it's Bun Bo Hue. Hue is the name of a city, pronounced Hoo-eh :) My favorite noodle dish.

For people who won't buy a Pentax, suggest them to go get a Ricoh K3.

I use a GearMaxx anti-glare film bought on Ebay. It's very easy to apply and the screen is now visible under brightest outdoor light. But screen sharpness does drop a bit.

And how does this Df fill that role better than a D610, manual knobs aside?
