Problem with Image Sync app on Apple

There are multiple problems with Image Sync on Nexus 5 with the K1. Connecting is often difficult and the move functions are impossible to use if you do get a picture taken. The icons appear only very briefly. This is on Android 6.0.1. Using Legacy DHCP seems to help the basic communications. Ricoh/Pentax dropped the ball on this one.

TC Pentaxians - anyone wanting to join us next Saturday, Nov 14th is welcome. Leaving from Perkins in Maplewood (694 & White Bear Ave on Co Rd D) after a little breakfast at 8am. Or look for us along the way. Destination is Wabasha.

Tentative plan for Nov 14 - meet at Maplewood Perkins just off 694 & White Bear Ave on Co Rd D.

"It should be noted however that eagles can be seen on occasion all around the lake at all times of the year, so a fun drive from the Eagle Center is to the head of the lake in Red Wing and crossing over to Wisconsin, to drive all the way along the lake south to cross back over to Wabasha at Nelson, the foot of the lake. Got the tutorial and version 4.0. It seems like more than I will ever need to do PP.
As soon as I figure out the batch mode so I can process an entire folder at once I'll like it more. Then if I don't like the default processing I can go back and tweak a few of them.

After setting the AF on with remote it does not appear to function with my generic remote.
Shutter will release, but no AF is achieved. Will this function work with the Pentax F remote? Does anyone use this feature?

1) How many use it?
2) Is there a good tutorial in English
3) How does it compare to the rest of the PP software world

I'm just embarking on a little raw file processing and would like suggestions.

My PTXUTL40 utility refuses to load on my XP-pro system. I downloaded the newest Silkypix trial and it seems to work fine. Anyone else have problems with the utility which came with the K-7?

I run an XP-Pro system with 2GHz dual core processor and 3.5GB of usable memory. All other software seems to run fine.

K-7 owners' satisfaction/dissatisfaction?

Happy with mine, but I've ordered a battery grip for better balance with longer lenses and the extra battery. The HD video & live-view eats batteries quickly. A few test shots are in the gallery and full size ones are available on SMUGMUG. Big performance improvement over the K10.

I went to a RAID-5 SATA solution using three 1 Terabyte HD's. Works efficiently and any drive is hot swappable. With the price of storage today its a great solution. For offsite storage I dump my DB to an external drive a couple of times per year and deliver it to my son's house.

We tried copying online, but its far too slow to be practical with 150 GB of pictures.

Initializing RAID-5 on a XP system is a bit of a trick though.

Sounds like you are unhappy with the zoom or telephoto capability of the kit lens. I've been using the Tamron 18-250mm as my walk about lens and have been quite pleased with it. Its lightweight and reasonable quality, but is not particularly cheap ($400-$500). For a less expensive tele zoom you may find a 70-300mm Tamron at a good used price ($100) or a 70-200mm in that range. Two lenses to cover the 18-250mm range is definitely cheaper. some examples from 18-250

digitizing slides with a dSLR

I tried several before I found a decent setup for 35mm slides. An even light source is the biggest problem. Most setups seem to have edge/corner dropoff. Now I use a scanner instead.
My HP S10 scans negs or slides at 2700dpi and the images end up on my computer directly which is where I want them.
