Found a really nice color house in a small side street in Copenhagen. Quite a bit of sun, so there a bit of harsh shadows, especially on her legs and face.

Got my old K10D out in the chill Danish spring and took a picture of a girl crossing one of our many bike paths (it's not actually shot at F4 as the description says, but can't figure out how to edit it).

I have 2 Sigma 500 Supers and have owned a non super too. Never had a problem with any of them. However I will agree that the manual could be competing for worst translation ever. It's almost useless.

Just a tip for Super owners, if you want to use it manually off camera, Flashzebra.com has a nice guide at: FlashZebra.com: Using the Sigma EF-DG Super Flash In Manual Mode Off-Camera

I like them, but like others here I would have preferred less blur.

As for the underaged kids etc. they are not worse than what you can see on posters/commercials walking around the city here in Denmark. Doesn't bother me a bit.

Though there was a bit of a fuzz when this (not safe for work, people scared for breasts, small children etc):

Just curious as I have a couple of the same flashes and used to have a K100D (I fired them with a non-super sigma flash). What is meant by manually program the flash?

Manual Focus Beep Confirmation

I think one of the first things I turn off with a new camera is the beep on focus :)

However the green focus confirmation in the viewfinder is rather helpful, but still nowhere as easy to focus with as a split screen.

That is pretty cool, is it one of those eeepc machines?

I myself run a HP 2510p ultraportable with Linux.
1.3kg, 12" widescreen and build in 3G/HSDPA cell phone modem. (3.6MBit just about anywhere and 7.2Mbit a few places).
It's a bit larger but still easy to carry around.

what is the fastest way to get wireless flash trigger v2s in U.S???

I ordered cactus v2s from Gadget Infinity on the 25th. I got the triggers from Hong Kong yesterday. I also placed an order with mpex on the 28th, that one is still saying "Processing" and I havn't even received a quote on shipping yet.

I know it's too late, but I'd have gone with Gadget Infinity if speed was important.

Alternative to Macro lense

So.. just to better evaluate the Raynox lens, I tried taking a photo of a few coins.

It's taken with a K10D, Tamron 28-70 1:2.8 and the Raynox DCR-250. With this lens there is some vignetting at 70. Anyways - I think it's pretty sharp for a $50 attachment to your lens.

Jpeg straigt from camera is here: http://cze.dk/moenter.jpg

What bike is it?

Ok for the first sample shot. In particular I think the OOF isn't half bad.

I'm supposed to work so can't run around ensuring anything is in focus or use flash, etc :)

Will take some real shots this weekend.

Tip of one of the center flower leaves pointing at the lens I believe. However I'm don't have the most stable hand, so my guess is that the focus is actually in front of the flower :)

Well I just got the Raynox DCR-250 and I'm impressed. Tried it on the kit lens and a Tamron 70-300 which is already a 1:2 macro. On the Tamron it was darn hard to hit focus, the DOF is really narrow. Much easier with the kit lens but of cause the magnification is also less.

This is the first picture I took with it, 18-55 kit lens, Raynox, iso800, handheld of a flower in my office that have seen better days.

Not a particular impressive image, but for mounting the Raynox - pointing the cam at a random flower and taking a shot, I think it's ok for such a cheap add-on lens.

My absolutely largest passion is motorcycles. "Live to ride, ride to live" is pretty accurate :)

I'm hoping to go to the track again next season and try taking a few race shots.

Not the best picture, but this is my current bike: Suzuki SV1000S K6

MacBook or MacBook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro and one thing that would worry me about the MacBook is the keyboard. I must admid I have not tried it, but looks very different.

This might not be as much a concern for others, but I'm seriously picky about my keyboards. I use IBM Model M clones (buckling springs and ear deafening click-clicks and all) both at home and work and I already dislike the MacBook Pro keyboard, so if the non-pro model is worse, I'd be concerned.

Other than the keyboard (imho) the MacBook Pro is a great machine, I have a non-glossy model and the screen is great for a laptop.

Best setup on a budget?

I can only speak for the Tamron.

It does have some problems with purple fringing in some cases. However I feel it's not so bad it can't be worked around or removed in post processing.

As for the image quality, it might be a little soft at 300mm, but imho it's a bargain at the price.

How about Tamron or Sigma 70-300? I got my Tamron for £56 from new, doesn't get much cheaper than that.

Someone should create a little red light hotshoe mounted thing that just does focus assist light. Ought to be pretty cheap. Something like the mentioned laser, but activated by the camera.

FPS, how important is it to the average user?
Posted By blinxdk
Replies: 63

The results resonate pretty well with my own experience, 3 fps is enough for my shooting but the camera being ready when I want to shoot is very important. The 3 raw buffer and the loooong write time on the K100D have caught me several times.

However I do understand some peoples need for more fps, we don't all shoot the same and I think there have been some quite rude remarks (not necessarily on this board) from photographers who don't seem to understand that for some, a few more fps is the difference between getting the shot or not.
