Adaptall Mount Club (Tamron).

I have both the 52B and 52BB. I cannot say that I notice much difference between the two. The 52B focus ring has become quite stiff, so I am trying to loosen it up by rotating the ring to move the grease around (I hope that is the reason and the theory will work).

Reliability of PKA adapters tends to be the limiting factor as to whether I take one out, I am down to one working PKA adapter and that lives on the 35-80 these days, occasionally on the 60-300.

Proper means genuine Tamron? Or was the special lens released with a matching special cap?

35-105mm 3.5 A lens on K-01

Agreed the K-01 is clumsy with heavy zooms, but I only shoot hand-held, never with a tripod. The standard grip does not allow a firm grasp to be able to manage a front-heavy setup. Primes are perfect. Small and light zooms are fine, I have a DA 18-55mm II and an early DA 55-200mm that are great, so maybe the limit is about 300g. Autofocus is also slower with zooms and more likely to not lock on. I am also trying my F 35-70mm and 35-105mm in the next week, but I doubt these are noticeably sharper. I bought the K-01 to use with the Limited lens set, and I will stick with these lenses most of the time.

I have two Gobe brand adapters, one is PKA-NEX and other is Nikon-NEX. They look identical to the K&F equivalents, work perfectly and are similarly priced (also sold from a local distributor so delivery is 2-4 days, rather than K&F from China in two weeks.

I thought that you decided the 20-40 underperforms the 16-85 after your Tassie experience?

The silver 20-40 is tempting for me to use on my silver+black K-01, but the early reviews questioned the image quality, and I have the five Limited primes (15, 21, 35, 40 and 70). I could probably do almost everything the 20-40 could, by sticking with the 35mm and walking a bit further to frame shots.

I saw that Crab. I also have a Sony A7ii, and a couple of those $400 lenses are teasing me, Samyang 85mm f1.4 for example.

Maybe 1:3 refers to max aperture, but the macro ratio is 1:1? That's what I infer from the pic

Two beauties for March-April, one manual focus and one auto-everything: Adaptall 2 SP 35-80mm in unused condition, and a Pentax 100mm WR macro in excellent condition.

One old lens failed, the F 35-70mm seems to have sticky blades and gives faulty exposures.

Ok so that 35-80 arrived with a jammed zoom ring, making it a 80mm semi-macro, and a very good one, but maybe not as good as the 52B. I found another, and it is in perfect new condition, complete with hard case, testing in next few days. My Adaptall-2 collection is now:
28mm
135mm
500mm (earlier version 55B)
300mm CT-300, not a star performer
90mm (52B) and the later 52BB
wonky 24-48mm, I will buy another if I find a cheap one, less than about $100US
35-80 SP in perfect condition, plus the damaged one to return to seller
35-135mm 40A , plus a 22A in good condition to sell cheaply
60-300mm 23A
01F converter and the 1:1 macro extension tube for the 90mm, both quite clumsy to fit on and off.

Surely enough??

Tamron 80mm f3.8

Just kidding really, its an Adaptall 2 35-80mm model 01A with the zoom ring stuck at 80mm. Not really sure if this qualifies as a Prime, but just for a laugh I posted it anyway (moderators may decide this is not worthy of the current topic, that's fine by me). This two-inch caterpillar was munching through the edible sweet-potato leaves and I found it on a bare stem. Photo taken with K70, using f8, handheld.

No criticism from me - I have three of the tiny Olympus lenses: 28mm W, 50mm f1.8 and 135mm Auto-T 135mm f3.5. They are all small (comparable to the Pentax-M equivalents) and give me great shots adapted to my Sony A6000 or full-frame A7ii. I am tempted to buy a non-functioning OM-1 just for a display, to sit next to my ME Super with M 40mm lens.

Everybody's kit, in those days before competent zooms that needed a wheelbarrow, not a Lowepro. My parents' Spotmatic had the three Takumar equivalents, admittedly the Tak 135 was bigger and heavier than the M135/3.5.

Secondary travel camera, advice needed

My recently purchased second camera is a used K-01, which has IBIS, takes all my Pentax lenses and any vintage M42s, and shoots up to ISO12800. It even makes the pics from the DAL55-200mm look good, and is way smaller/lighter than the K1. Less of a difference from the K-70 though - and K-70 is my main camera.

Tim, you started me thinking about the 16-85 as the "everywhere and everything" zoom, remember? It is a very liberating way to travel, no lens changes, a small and manageable bag. Adding the 55-300PLM gives all the extra reach when needed. For travelling, where every shot is a once-in-a-lifetime image, the two zooms and the modern body (IBIS, High ISO performance, high pixel count and fast autofocus)) is perfect

I'm in the Club, on the days when I am not playing with the vintage primes that I have. All my zooms are Pentax brand, Sigma EX or Adaptall 2.

Carl, that is the kit that I took to Vietnam last year on a 3-week holiday. I took other lenses including all my Limiteds (15mm, 21mm, 40mm, 70mm) and rarely used any except in a cave or when walking the crowded footpaths, and that was generally the 21mm. These two zooms can do almost anything, they focus really fast and accurately. Colours and contrast are good. Nobody else in my tour group took photos at all except selfies to send to family back home.

I love the Motels! They hit it big here in Australia and then made up ground internationally, I think.

Another female-fronted band that made a huge impact here was Sandii and the Sunsetz. I have three of their CDs.

If you insist that I use the 40A then here I go. Taken at sunset on Sony A6000, ISO 400, and shot using the rotating barrel "macro" to get framing and focus. All are jpegs straight from the SC card.
