LX Grip attachment method

It is indeed a Polish one. They guy offers three grip designs for the LX. I got this one which allows use of the self timer and was slightly cheaper than the other two at the time. It came with three screws, one of which was too long, the second too short and the third didn't even fit the socket on the camera. Once I got that sorted, however, the grip fits the camera really well (and makes it look good too, IMO). Most important, it does actually fit my hand well and vastly improves one-handed grip. Altogether, I'm glad I got it and don't expect to take it off.

Hi,

I realise I'm reopening an old thread here, but I thought I'd share an experience I just had with a new fitting screw for my 'third party' (3D printed) Pentax LX grip: the screw was a bit longer than it needed to be and when screwed fully home, I found I could no longer cock the shutter. Seems like the grip mount socket on the camera doesn't have a stop for the screw, but lets it go on until it hits some other component.
That screw came back out of there pretty fast, I can tell you! Luckily, I hadn't applied any great force and there is no sign of any permanent damage. And I found a shorter screw that can be turned fully home without any apparent ill-effects, but I'm a little uneasy now.

As it happens, I was planning to have the camera serviced soon anyway, so I'll be mentioning that as a point of note. Anyone else had any experience like this?

Hi,

I'm Peter and I've just joined the forum. Why? Well, the new K-1 I just obtained for a very good price (though not quite good enough to placate my wife!) might have something to do with it. I'm looking forward to shooting with my old M-lenses again after having "rested" them for a few years.
I've been a Pentax user since 1983 when I got a used MX in part-exchange for my old Zenit-E (I often wish I'd kept the Zenit, it was an important camera for me, plus they're very hip now!). Since then I built up a stable of various lenses and a second MX body. Seven or eight years ago I got a GR digital (OK, not a Pentax, but sorta/kinda honorary Pentax?) and have neglected my SLRs since. The K-1 brings me back.
So much for cameras, but it's the photos that count, right? I have to admit I'm a pretty mediocre photographer. But now I can enjoy making ever higher resolution mediocrity than before!

Peter
