Unfortunately, I already check the 645 manual there. That is only for the body and not the grip.

The shutter button fell out of the shutter button socket. Is there any easy way of reattaching or do I have to disassemble the grip?

DFA 85mm f/1.4 Is now open for Preorder at B&H

The reduction of purple fringing by the lens design is specifically mentioned on the Pentax DFA 85mm Website.

For the other people mentioning the high cost.
Basically this is Pentax's cost is no object lens, and the price commiserate with that. The Canon RF 85mm 1.2 is 2000 dollars plus, the Sony is 1800 dollars, the Nikon's original price was $1600. If people have a problem with the price, the 77mm limited is a wonderful lens that has loads of character. I hope to own the 85mm one day but lets not argue about the price, and instead celebrate that Pentax is fulfilling its promises to their users.

All I have to say is that not only is this a perfect landscape lens (WR , compact and light, and focal length), but its just excites me that Pentax will release more D-FA limiteds in the future. 21mm, 31mm, 43mm, 77mm, and 100mm macro (which is a limited in everything but name). I wonder what would be next? A 14-15mm DFA limited? A 135mm limited? A 24mm or 55mm limited? DFA limited zooms like the DA 20-40mm? I also wonder the cost. The Nikon 20mm f1.8 is 716 dollars, my guess is that this new lens will be in the grand range similar to 50 D-FA.

KP with battery grip for $750

I was seriously considering a KP to replace a very beat up K-3. I really like the idea of a small secondary body and most of my crop glass is sitting unused. My main issue that I only have LI-90s, and the KP uses the smaller battery. The additional battery grip allows LI-90s, but I didn't want to pay that additional cost. This deal puts the KP into a lot better position as a k-3 successor (other than battery life without grip, one card slot,. and small buffer). Used K-3 prices are quite high right now due to the low supply.

I personally use my phone, a negative viewing app, and a lightbox to quickly look at negatives like a contact print. That does have the advantage of directly copying to your computer. Interesting that LIDL has one.

I got scanner this evening and the scanner is in almost new in box shape, it even came with the box and manuals. The Nikon Scan 4 software to work in Windows 10, by using XP compatibility mode combined with vuescan drivers. I just did a test scan and its amazing the difference in color quality and evenness of sharpness compared to my V600.

The move to Medium Format, so far......

What I saved on the body I lost on the 120 holder which was $77 dollars. I have heard you can convert 220 backs but I didn't want to risk the motor on my body. The lenses were ridiculously reasonable if you are willing to avoid buying inflated prices from certain hoarder sellers, which I couldn't avoid when buying the 120 holder.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I ended up getting a Coolscan V ED with the slide adapter and strip adapter for $400 on that auction website. Going to probably use Silverfast with it, since I like Silverfast a lot better than Vuescan.

I own an Epson V600 to scan my 135 and 120 negatives. While I am generally happy with the scans, I want a faster process with 135 film. I would like to get a dedicated 35mm scanner for under $500 but the choices are all over the place.

I have narrowed it down to 3 choices:

Used Nikon Coolscan IV $200 to $350 used (depending on accessories) + 100 dollars for vuescan software
If I can get a SA-21 strip scanner, I would be able to scan much faster, which appeals to me

New Plustek 8100se or ai $400 or $500

New Pacific Image XAs $450

It is important for me to use USB, i have no desire to mess with using an old computer set up as a scsi or firewire box.

Anyone have any tips or suggestion of other scanners?

I rather have a Tamron rebadge than no lens at all. If we get the things Pentax needs in its lens ecosystem like the cheap FF 20mm, 35mm and a 24mm that Tamron just released, even with a Pentax Price Premium, I am all for it.

I found a Petri 7s in a thrift store that fully works. I am going to try to shoot a roll of film with it. It even came with 2 rolls of Kodacolor X - Kodak color film that predates the C-41 process.

Oddly enough, I have renewed my yearly subscription for Flickr PRO. I didn't want to post to multiple social media accounts and I felt it was redundant with a dropbox account.

Now I am back because I feel Flickr is the last bastion of a photo sharing website that actually concentrates on Photography. Every thing else has either been monetized to death and/or data mining your personal information.

Also Flickr as a side benefit is a great photo hosting website which I use a lot for Pentax Forums posts. You can easily link an image on flickr with the image url button on forum posts.

Best and Worst Bag Purchased.

Yes in fact that is why I do the insert, I can distribute the weight where I want it, and put it a bag fitted for me rather than the one size fits all camera backpacks (most of which are too bulky or they dont have hip belts that don't really push weight to the hips). Granted you do lose a bit of access, and finding perfect insert is a game in of itself...

Buy a dead zx series body (Which there are plenty thanks to the gear failures) and steal the parts from it. You should be able to find an as-is one that still has the cap.

Which body to get?

i got a super-program and I have been very happy with it. My fingers have a lot better hold, I like the lcd display of aperture inside the viewfinder, and its built as well as a me-super if a little more plastic. The only thing I don't like is that you have to change to manual mode to shoot 00 and 0 shots. It defaults to 1/1000 shutter speed for shot 0 and 00 and doesn't meter until you get to 1. Its supposed to wind faster, but I would have liked it to at least start metering. The idea was you could advance the shutter fast without taking off the lens cap, but you are losing 1-2 shots a roll which adds up.

Trying out film, questions need answered and suggestions being sought

I have marked highlighted lenses that you can use with film with the correct body (any body that supports program mode - Pentax Super-Program or newer). Several DA lenses have a full or close to full size image circle and if the camera can control aperture, will work in either program\shutter priority, or can be full controlled.
I have crossed out DFA lenses that do not autofocus on film because while they cover the full frame image circle they do not have screw drive. You can manually focus them, but they are not optimized to be focused manually. You can not control DC\SDM lenses with film cameras. The contacts that look like SDM are actually PZ contacts in film cameras. There were a few DA* lenses that supported screw drive.

A good chart on compatibility. DA lenses have no aperture ring, so must be controlled by the camera. SDM and DC lenses did not come out before film ended so unless the lens has screw drive it will not work.

The FA limited pixie dust is seen better on a full frame body. The edges of a lens image circle are what defines a great lens. Not just sharpness, but the contrast and the focus transitions of the image of the edge vs at the center.

I have not been happy with my Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 on full frame other than stopped down to F8. Even then, it doesn't have good colors and the focusing seems always to be off. If I had a second chance, I would have gotten the DFA 28-105mm, it would be a lot better use for landscapes and travel.

FA 31mm Limited, FA 77mm limited, DA 15mm, DA 12-24mm, and DA* 50-135mm. The latter 3 are so good, I don't want to sell them off even though I have been using my K-1. Honestly for landscapes the later has created images just as good as my full frame K-1.
