I'm not 'attacking' you, merely reminding that it was you who time and again told everyone that a $1800 K-1 wasn't going to happen. No big deal, just own up to it.

So what grudge was that again?

There must be a "bring back the neo-Spotmatic" secret society somewhere!

I agree. These threads surface regularly. Digital SLR's have advanced in every way imaginable. The only area where we lag is the one some of us consider the most important: the viewfinder. Amazing really, particularly as the whole DSLR/OVF paradigm is under some strain from the mirrorless cameras. So maybe some day a manufacturer will respond to this dilemma with a specialized model optimized for manual focus with a viewfinder approaching 100% coverage and 1:1 magnification.

I made that up for a silly grudge? Really. What grudge are you talking about?

Meanwhile I'll just remind you of this thread from a year ago:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/169-pentax-full-frame/289513-around-1900-...-think-16.html

Some quotes? Here you are:
"A little" enticing? D810 specs for under 2000$?
There is no such thing; a cheap product is cheap. It's not a high end product sold for fewer $$$.
...
Let's play a game - spot the thing which doesn't match:
A. HD PENTAX-D FA * 70-200mm F2.8ED DC AW, 2000 euro
B. HD PENTAX-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6ED DC AW, 2200 euro
C. Pentax "full frame" DSLR, D810 features but D610 price.
...
Originally posted by VoiceOfReason They can release a D810 spec camera at 2k
No, they can't; they would have to cut corners one way or another.
I'm not saying they would launch a D810 spec/priced camera, though; we don't know that. IMO they should rather target around $2500.
...
A low margin camera is for people also expecting low margin lenses. And in the end, they'll find something cheaper elsewhere... discontinued models, perhaps even second hand - if price is what's driving them.

I wonder what makes you think there won't be further development of small sensors. Aren't about one gazillion small sensors sold for every large sensor?

Looks much more 'serious' than parts of the teaser campaign.

Yes Edvinas, I sympathize with your plight - but then I remember that in a prior post you had told us of your defection to Nikon three years ago.
Now considering that the Nikon D810 tops out at ISO 12800, I have a hard time understanding what you want.
Besides, you had also told us before that you kept your three amigos, which you are now going to sell because the K-1 has inadequate frame rates... Or so you say. Again, considering that the Nikon D810 has only 5fps this is bordering on the ludicrous, particularly as the three amigos are known for many fine properties - but lightning fast is not one of them.

Considering that 5 axis / 5 stops earns Olympus accolades for a smaller m43 sensor, this is probably an engineering triumph on a full frame.

Hmmm. Let's analyze this for a moment. We are looking for a jaw dropping feature that is not essential to your work. What is your work?
Right, photographing old men with long hair and impressive beards up on stage. While they still move w/o wheelchairs, they are none too agile anymore - which is why you're OK with Pentax tracking auto focus and frame rates :D So that's not it.
You absolutely do require first rate light metering though. These old men shine like crazy and their light show is something else, too. So metering is probably not the new jaw dropper, either. If it were, you'd be first in line.
What you definitely don't need is high resolution. Those men can't hold still long enough to make that work. So while 100MP might be jaw dropping, it is already too well known. Same goes for the lenses.
Soooo, I think it must be a new hybrid viewfinder - not essential to you, as real men only use OVF's and Slash wouldn't have it any other way - but useful to others.

Please feel free to comment :p

I think much of the need for really long lenses will hinge on the K-1's auto focus.

Lo if only two reviewers should judge that tracking auto focus is good w/o being stellar or even on a par with... and Pentax need no longer hurry with the introduction of the long guns :(:(:(

I'll put my money on 135mm for the semi tele as well. F/2.4 sounds very Pentaxian...
The others may well be a new 100mm macro and a 24mm f/2.8 uwa. I just don't think that Pentax will start releasing really fast lenses all of a sudden.

No need to convince me, I'm sold. It's the rest of the western world I'm worried about.

Unless you are a low light afficionado or a narrowdoffer or a high dynamic range freak or whatever the photographic flavor of the month happens to be, the Q will deliver. What gets me though is that Pentax is so incredibly slow and reticent to flesh out this system. As it stands now it is only the 03 fish eye and the 08 uwa that set the Q apart from all those good small travel zoom cameras like the Panasonic TZ70 or Sony HX90 that seem to be undergoing quite a little revival right now. That is where the competition is. Those little cameras reach out to about 750mm equ, have EVF (of sorts) and share the Q's small sensor. They only cost around $ 300++

Pentax needs to make a long zoom and a macro lens to at least take full advantage of the small sensor / interchangeable lens combination.

Anyway, I would love it if Pentax had struck gold and introduced the new Leica. Back in the 20's/30's it was a truly disruptive force in photography. I visited a major exhibition celebrating 100 years of the Leica last year and one of the things that struck me, looking at all those original prints from way back, is just what a major hit in quality photographers were willing to take at the time in exchange for a camera that could take pictures in circumstances where medium and large format could not. I mean 35mm film was pretty bad then and the earliest Leica lenses were nothing to write home about either.

Is that the point where the Q is at? Well, I would not want to bet any money on that but my best wishes for continued success. :)

All very true but the DSLR is loosing its once iconic position, so maybe there is hope and a market between IPhone and Nikon 1
