Another range is the Tenba messenger series -I had one for several years and then sold it as it was too big. Good when I was working as a stringer for the local newspaper and doing weddings and stuff - all that has gone now so I downsized to carry my new outing habits.

They come in a range of sizes - I had the 15 which has a built in laptop/tablet sleeve.

Interesting to look at your vehicles prevously experienced, Tim. How does the Mazda compare to the Audi, similar or different? They seem to fall into a very similar category so not really comparing apples and oranges i would think...

The new material has a sticky backing - quite easy to apply - read instructions in the packet or on supplier's website for application tips.

I have ordered Dark green vintage leather (looks like licorice) from Hugos. Will post images when K1000 is redone.

Sounds like fun to me - early in 2019 my wife and I started riding regularly and now do several kilometers a day - we love it. Riding has a very soft impact on the landscape so wildlife allows us to get quite close before being startled so that really adds to the experience. Look forward to seeing the new photographs produced.

Still works for me Dave - I like the blur on the nearer riders and the distortion of the wheel in the corner - great action shot.

A friend sent me a K1000 series 1 in a pentax badged soft snoot case with a K55mm f1:2. The sender was the original owner from the early seventies and it had been with her on the Kakadu track in New Guinea and on a motorcyle up the East Coast of Australia. The case took most of the beating luckily. Superficially a bit grubby and bits of corrosion where metal fastenings from the neck strap had been touching the aluminium. The shutter is frozen and the seals need replacing. I didnt check the meter with a fresh battery.

Off to Eric it has been sent after a bit of a cosmetic overhaul. The leatherette is a bit rust stained and lifting along the front right side where the sweaty right palm touches it. Dark green leatherette is on the horizon. Colour choice input provided by the previous owner but I was going dark green or grey anyway.

The lens had fungus through it but a quick open up cleaned that out. Unfortunately the rear doublet has light balsam separation hazing clearly visible. Still usable but not perfect unfortunately.

We will see how thisturns out.

Here in Australia these are both called Pontoons as they rise and fall with the river/sea level. Rigid would indeed be a dock. (Pedantic teachers the both of us)

I purchased this lens for a specific project involving indoor photography a few years ago. now that i dont do that kind of work regularly the lens sits on the shelf a lot. it is good to know that with three lenses i have all focal lengths covered from 8mm-300mm. Useful when I can start travelling again.

Seisia beach, 30 July, K3 Sigma 8-16 -first time to shoot in a long time - on a tripod about 12inches above the water level and about 20 inches back from the wash line. There are somethings almost no other lens can do...

(Right eye in the view finder, left eye scanning for salt water crocs)

Haha - Australia is big. Weipa is down the road - but a country mining town with not a lot of support - Cairns is the nearest major city and where we bought the car - came up to us on a container freighter like all the other supplies except for fresh water and fresh air. We have a local generator as the town is too remote to be linked to the grid and all the fuel for the four engines that drive the generator is also freighted up.

Yeah true - but due to all the red ferrous oxide or bauxite from the iron ore in the soil and rocks all the local rivers run red at the moment - thats how it got the red in the first place. So processed water it is...
The picture below shows a bit of the clean gained from a river crossing - note the bubble rings...

I live 900kms from the nearest major town/city so need a bit of versatility and reliability.

Had visitors over the weekend so took them to the northernmost tip of mainland Australia. 160kms on corrugated gravel roads with a couple of river crossings above the sills (or maybe higher).
No leaks and no engine or electrical or braking issues. These things are sold under various names all round the world and relish these kinds of conditions.

Mitsubishi Triton MQ GLX Dualcab

Two hours later it was clean again.

Look great! Now you can colour code match each to a different film or Takumar lens... Also will go nicely with a range of braid (hippy) shoulder straps.

Lets see Bridges

Possibly slightly over-engineered, compared to the footbridge above, is the old traffic bridge over the Swan River at Fremantle. It is still in daily use by cars and trucks with semi trailers taking laden containers to the port, but it has now been slated for replacement leaving a portion for heritage value. The two wider spans in the middle allow for small to medium craft to pass under and through.
Allegedly there are two kinds of captains of craft on the Swan river - those who have hit the pilings and those who have yet to hit the pilings. Through the pilings in the upper picture you can see the more modern railway bridge slightly downriver and nearest to the port.. This one was hit by a wayward container ship a couple of years ago. It is now defended by robust bumper rails set into the river floor a few meters down river of the bridge.
