And me... again. I'll keep dipping in and out. The main thing I've noted this month is that I'm not as happy with trying to grab a photo at the end of the day, i.e. I won't pick up the camera just before bed if I've not taken a photo the rest of the day. I want a photo to be more 'organic' than that, at least this month.

This is what I'm severely tempted to do... An X-E3 for 350 is looking at me...

You say that, but I'd be inclined to see how my current lens selection would suit... Bet the Voigtlander 40/2 is a beauty on a Fuji. ;)

I've said it before, I'll say it again.
Y'all are tempting me with these Fuji.
I'm now inclined to get a second camera (film cameras excused) for carrying around when I'm cycling..
The X-E2/3 seem to fit the bill... light, good IQ...

Dang, missed yesterday entirely. Was a busy day topped off by a poorly doggo. Will spare the gory details but I had to sleep on the floor to stop her licking/fussing prior to a vets appointment today. Managed maybe an hour or two sleep.
Very tired.

Macro Tips for nighttime photos of spiders under streetlights?

The K-S2 has a good, usable ISO range. I've found from past experience that pushing it to around 800 still gives very nicely detailed shots. At that point, you're nearing a more useful shutter speed. Open up that aperture a little more and you're further increasing your shutter speed. This will help you with 'freezing' the motion a bit more, so-to-speak.
From what I can tell (and may be wrong), your shots aren't near the 1:1 macro range, i.e. the lens isn't near minimum focus distance. Your aperture will be a little less pivotal until you are at these super close distances, so feel free to play around with that a little more to improve your shutter speed. Everything else will start falling into place there.

I was in a similar boat when I started, I wanted to preserve ISO for reducing noise. I was told that a blurry shot with no noise was worse than a non-blurry shot with noise. I wholeheartedly agree, now.

Edit: That top shot with the 'harsher' lighting would be epic as a B&W shot. Get it looking super grungy with the highlights drawing the eye!

As above, and I know the NEX to M42 K&F adapter is fine for M42 lenses with a push-down tab for aperture control (from experience).

And it’s in! The lens choice for this month is a free Pentax SMC-A 50mm f/1.7 I acquired.
It is now no longer “A” ready, the contact for it was broken along with the ball bearing not seating properly. I’ve already the SMC-M version so de-clicked this one too.

Should be an interesting month having no tactile aperture setting. Just a freely moving ring.
The glass, however, is gorgeous.

I was hoping that a lens received today wouldn’t take much effort to get serviceable. Alas, not quite the case as the helicoid is desperate for new grease, it’s chock-full of fungus and part of the mount rim has broken in transit (plastic, fortunately doesn’t look too fundamental).
The lens in question: Konica Hexanon 40mm f/1.8. That will have to wait.

What to pick in the meantime..?

It's been a while since I posted here last, but I've recently found a nice groove, flow and style that I'm strongly considering sticking to for the foreseeable.
These photos are categorised by lens on Flickr if any of you were curious - just click the photo and find which album it's in! :)

I took a fairly heavy tumble on mine in the wet (semi-slicks + Uber smooth ground) and it has fared well despite that.
That said, Im definitely on the lightweight end of the scale at 66kg and just shy of 5ft 11.
Regardless, very comfortable and doing well for the first couple hundred miles.

Ive recently got a Fizik Antares with K:Ium rails saddle and its pretty good in my amateur opinion. The rails dont seem as though theyd fail under typical use. Although Ive been cycling on it in bib shorts Im sure Id be comfy enough with just jeans for casual cycling too.

Decent little haul that.
If you happen to come across a Konica Hexanon 40mm f/1.8 at a decent price could you let me know? 😁

I’ve been less than involved lately, and I need to have a bit of reevaluation as to which photos I deem ‘keepers’.

See y’all next month!
