Quoting the passed painter, Bob Ross:

"We don't make mistakes, we have happy accidents."

I shot wide open on this camera to blur out the yard furniture on my deck. There's actually an industrial push broom on my deck that I didn't bother to remove due to I suspected the 1.8 would deem it insignificant - allow me to position that camera at my desired position.

Due to the multi camera mechanized technique I use, my cameras are usually positioned around the feeder in a manner that 1or 2 cameras of the 4 cameras (as in this capture) are positioned in a technically imperfect manner. By purposely doing this allows me to capture perspectives I wouldn't have attempted otherwise. The entire image was prepped as shown. The flower pot with flower was placed approximately 3 feet from the feeder and I prefocused on the flower with prediction the bird will fly in the predetermined zone. I have very few technically correct images. This is a full resolution image with no crop.

Thanks to all. During this time, i was fixated on bokeh and blurring backgrounds. I stop down more nowadays to try to get more of the bird in focus.

However, the wide aperture shots I believe transcends the photo from action into portraiture (I predetermined the background and the captured bird completed the composition.

I'm experimenting shooting wide open with fast lenses (1.4 to 2.8) in overly abundant sunlight. I take iso down to below 1000 and adjust shutter speed as needed (1/3500 or faster). I believe this is a 30fps electronic shutter shot. The rendering of revered lenses gives the shot added character.

Thanks. I moved to Panasonic/Olympus bodies for the silent shutter and frames per second (30 and 60fps). I have many BIF posts on DPReview in the Micro Four Thirds Forum and you can find me on Facebook (Lawrence McFarrin). I also have a YouTube channel, but have minimal content, I plan on being more engaged with it soon.

I periodically post to this Forum when I make captures involving Pentax and K mount lenses. However, being M43 now sometimes creates friction (taken as a troll).

Here's a photo from a few days ago...
