Ground Zero Window

This is a shot I captured at the legendary Ground Zero Blues Club owned by Morgan Freeman in Clarksdale, MS. There is graffiti everywhere and I really wanted to get a shot that included it. This window seemed to do the trick quite well :D.

About me: I am a photographer who specializes in film and only use SLRs from the Pentax family. I currently use: MX, SF-1n, and ZX-5 bodies along with a large compliment of vintage and modern Pentax lenses.

MX Flash Suggestions

I use a small Pentax AF160 flash on my MX with a small diffuser hood over it. I know exactly what you mean about the strong flash, I tend not to like it either and the diffuser softens it without the need for a large bounce flash.

Well, seeing as I just took a shot of all of my Pentax gear a couple of weeks ago, might as well post it :). There's one digital body here though, so just ignore that one. Film bodies include: MX, SF1n, PZ-1p, ZX-5 and (MZ-5). I just won an ME Super on the 'bay and will be adding that to the "family" soon. Lenses include M 50mm f1.4, 28mm f2.8, AF 50mm f1.4, Takumar 135mm f2.5, and Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f2.8-4.0 (version 3 by Komine).

I'm loving digging back into this stuff again! It's like finding buried treasure.

Oh, to sing the praises of the MX! I just picked up another one off the 'bay after my original from high school/college was sent off to Dad for repair. I think he's had it so long he thinks it's his instead of mine :hmm: . I love this camera and am so happy to have one to use once again. Luckily the one I got has a working meter...that's what I sent mine to Dad to repair (a repeat problem with that camera). It has a dented prism and crooked hotshoe (which didn't work when I got it, but I fixed it last night) but it's still a thing of beauty to me. I would love to get the Winder MX for it...as I used to have one on the other one and it worked great and gave a nice ergonomic grip...albeit a bit larger than the little camera without.

And Ludlow...my new camera came with a Winder MX manual...would you like me to scan it for you? I can post it to flickr if you're interested.

Are you really using all of the lenses you own?

Don't use nearly all of them! Pulled all out the other night to do an inventory and was thinking, wow, I need to use all of these. I do find that I tend to find a "favorite" lens and it stays on the camera pretty much 99% of the time. Right now it's my Tamron 28-80 af, but my old favorite Vivitar Series 1 28-105 manual focus is intriguing me once again (it was my favorite on my MX about 20 years ago!).

It also doesn't help that I a technical gadget pack rat, just like my Father is. He gave me a big ole bag of Pentax stuff basically on "permanent loan" so I have that in addition to my own stuff.

Still loving Pentax...so glad I chose them for my digital slr when I upgraded. Love using the old lenses...it's like a treasure trove going through all of them and using them again.

Looking forward to communicating with other Pentax fanatics and learning lots!

Shoot em up and thanks for a great forum!
