I've got more botanicals - a Rush or sedge (Just looked it up - apparently it is a variety of a native grass, Lomandra, bred for landscaping) flower and leaves in Prussian Blue using the Topaz Studio Cyanotype presets, a Palm tree all tied up at a building site, and a little grass head poking through a fence in a carpark. The first two with the K5 & Industar 50-2 50mm f3.5, and the grass head with the little Pentax Optio A30;

Can you get a sample pack of different types from any of them? - I've just sent my first (free) test order off here to printers in Brisbane, and they give out a sample pack of small prints on different surfaces, and a "Shirley" (printed, with jpeg available online) so you can calibrate you monitor. They will also color correct as they are printing if you ask them to. I went in to collect the sample pack, and talk with them about what I need to do, but they would have been just as happy to do this over the phone and by mail. They also have a lot of information on how to get good prints on their website....

Hoping I can pick them up Friday - see how I've gone.... :)

That's a nice happy hazy chaos of windsurfers Bibendumm! - love the blues, and the photo has a really nice feel to it.

thank you Richard - it's actually a bunch of flowers clustered together. There are many varieties of grevillea, one of our very distinctive native plants, bred for landscaping. Each flower has many florets borne along a central stem.

A late floral posting - the Grevillea was taken with K5 & Cosina Cosinon 50mm f1.8, the Perennial Stocks with the K5 & Industar 50-2 50mm f3.5 & 11mm ext tube, and the Jacaranda & Golden Penda with my Optio A30;

Thanks for the comment Richard, no whiskey though - it's actually a 3 tiered lolly jar that came filled with lollies :). I put it on the kitchen bench and by the time I'd worked my way towards the half way mark the ants had found it as well.... so I've just kept it empty, clean, and ornamental since.

Jacarandas have been out here too Noel - "Bontebok" ! - another one to look up!. Great detail & color in that Peacock also.

I've been guiltily watching the dust gather on my little point and shoots since buying the K5 18 months ago, and on seeing the newly opened thread for the monthly point and shoot challenge dusted my Pentax Option A30 off. The first two pics here were posted for that challenge (to the theme of glass) over a week ago, but last night I fixed a few minor flaws I'd noticed as I'd posted them, so I'll post here also.

Interestingly I've also acquired an sRGB monitor with LUT and color munki (with a view to printing), and the last silver toned pic here looks fine on that new monitor, but I've already desaturated it once for presentation on this, my older entry level general purpose monitor, and looking at it now can still see purple blues in the clouds..... there - fixed it now. Leaves me wondering how I am seeing other people's pics, and how they see mine!

The patchwork lounge and cane chairs were in a dimly lit mall, and I put the camera onto TV mode, and it's pushed the ISO up to 250 (I had been using 64), and there is some noise. As the camera only takes JPEG there is only so much editing possible but given it's limitations, including my clumsy use, it seems to be doing OK....

Thank you Bart - you were talking about mine? I had those doubts creeping in almost as soon as I posted them - did I have shake reduction off while on tripod? will anyone notice that patch to the side that I darkened in post?... should I have cropped the second?... I'm sure most people have these sort of thoughts...

Richard

That's a good long series of the street art on you flickr page Noel - good coverage! - and the bif is particularly good as well. I've got a late entry - a pair of Eastern Water Dragons in a territorial dispute. These pictures were taken on a walk through the Roma St Parklands with my K5 & SMC DA 55-300mm in near the city in April, but not processed until today;
