Contact for the battery, yes, but not for the SD card, which was what the query was about.

I seem to remember him saying zooms last year, primes this year. Of course, I could be mistaken.

I'm just guessing, but I suspect that Pentaxians are a tad more individualistic than the people who buy Canikony. Thus, we're bound to have wildly differing opinions about what our ideal camera would look like. :D

I hope not - a single card slot would be a big retrograde step in my opinion.

rumored Pentax mirrorless camera - something between K1000 and K-01

This thread has grown since I last visited it, and I haven't read all the intervening posts, so please forgive me if someone has already raised similar points. Am I the only one who would see no problem in a mirrorless camera with a similar size and form to current DSLRs, particularly the Pentax K-3, which I find a very agreeable size and heft? This would make retaining the K mount a no-brainer. I haven't held a Fuji XT-2, but from looking at one in a camera store window, it doesn't seem much smaller than a K-3, apart from the thickness of the body, and one needs to add the battery grip to get a fully functioning camera it seems to me, which greatly adds to its size. I bought the Olympus M1 and M5 a couple of years ago, and although they were reasonably capable cameras, I hated them for their small size and fiddly buttons. I don't have large hands, so that has nothing to do with it. Perhaps a DSLR-type mirrorless would be a hard marketing sell, but I would love to see one.

They seem to regard the K-S2 as better (possibly better value for money) - Top 10 Best APS-C Digital SLRs 2016

How else could one explain the Nikon D7200 being ranked over the D500?

I disagree (to some extent). I find the tilt screen on the K-1 most useful when I'm taking macro and close up photos in my studio, especially when I'm using the camera in portrait mode when the small amount of tilt available saves me having to bend over too far. At my age, that's important! I've never used the tilt on any other occasions.

A lot of Nikon lenses went up significantly recently in the UK. Can't speak for Canon or Fuji as I haven't been following them, but their top end cameras aren't cheap, either.

Back in the film days my favourite lens was the Pentax 24 mm, so I have been long hoping for a modern version. However, I reckon a 20 mm would do nicely being a bit wider but, with the 36 Mpx of the K-1, there is ample scope to crop to a 24 mm FoV if needed. So in my view, 20 mm would be the sweet spot.

Possibly, but normally one wants a fair depth of field in landscapes, so one is often better served by a tripod and a smaller aperture. Maybe it's just me, but I've never worried unduly about corner sharpness, even in landscapes, as long as it isn't glaringly obvious.

Which older lenses are you referring to? This seems to me to be a bit of a generalisation. I'm sure that some older lenses, especially the cheaper, kit offerings, aren't good enough to do full justice to a 36 Mpx sensor, but then again, I haven't tried them all. I do know that the FA Limiteds seem plenty sharp enough for my purposes (the 31mm in particular is insanely sharp). And the Pentax-A 24 mm f2.8 is pretty good, too. Then again, I'm not a pixel peeper: I even believe the heresy that sharpness, beyond a reasonable level, isn't the be-all and end-all of a lens' characteristics. In fact, for many applications, sharpness is the least desirable attribute. Pentax made the K-1 for us to enjoy the old lenses, and I'm jolly well going to do that whatever Tony Northrup or anyone else says.

And macro and still life. It's also a cracking camera for portraits too. The problem I think, is that Tony just isn't used to the K-1. Many photographers, Tony included, rely on the camera to do a lot of the work for them, including focusing. One only has to look at the photos on this forum to see that the K-1 is capable of all types of photography in experienced hands. I know from personal experience with a Nikon D810 that hitting focus with narrow depths of field can be quite difficult even with its so-called "superior" autofocus system.
