I think it may worth a reply.
I've dismantled my K-r to find it had a white solenoid (good point), I haven't checked the flash solenoid.
I've ordered a set of Eneloops, as I already had the LR-6 (AA) adapter, it seems the problem has gone. Perhaps the battery (I knew was well worn, after all those years) did not have enough pickup to move the solenoid on a cold mechanism.
Ironically, I may be using my good, old, beloved even, k-r a bit less as I've bought besides a used D5300. But it remains a brilliant camera, well designed, well built and easy to use (especially the menus, compared to the Nikon).

Being in France, I could have one of these (must be a EU-specs batch), but I don't feel like dismantling mine to check (I've had a look on the Web about that) ;)

Hello John,
Thanks for your reply. I've seen some messages with the keywords you gave, I think I'll live with it... That remains a lovely camera.
Best regards,
G.

Hi there,
I've had a K-r for nearly 9 years, still works well (it only has a bit less than 15k actuations), excepted the usual stuff (backup capacitor or battery being worn (I have to set date & time whenever I remove the battery), and the original battery just being work as well).
More annoying, when I leave the camera for some days, the first pictures with a A lens are back or awfully underexposed. I traced the problem to be a kind of sticky aperture lever, and I cure that with some seconds in burst mode.
However, there must be a better way to fix it.
How could I lubricate the aperture lever mechanism, as I suspect some grease has gone dry?
Regards,
Guillaume.

From experience, the K-r seems a bit picky about rechargeable AA batteries, too, so my advice would be to test another set of batteries. I have a batch (set of 4) cheap, low capacity, and even if they are fully charged, my K-r does even not turn on, or says "batteries discharged".

I installed an evaluation version of CS5, it produces a .PSD and opens it into CS5. The matter is, I end up with huge files which are not stacked onto my DNG.
Well, I won't bang my head. I'll find a solution later.
Thank you for the time you spent on this.

It seems the export to an external file (PSD or TIFF) is mandatory.

Hi there!
I've been using Lightroom for some time now, I just installed PS CS4. I shoot using DNG & JPEG with a K-r.
When I right-click a picture and select "Edit in PS CS4" either in the Library or in the processing module, a TIFF or a PSD file is exported, then opened into PS. The edited & saved file is then saved and appears as a new file into the collection.
My question is: LR is supposed to let DNG files be opened by CS3 and later versions of Photoshop.
I tried to reset warnings, preferences, uninstall & reinstall both LR ans PS to no avail.
I even don't have the box asking whether I want to open the file or a copy of the file.
Has anybody have an idea of what I am doing wrong?

... and the ME Super has a faster shutter, able of 1/2000th sec whereas the "standard" ME cannot go faster than 1/1000th.

It's a bit crappy, but if you go beyond that, you'll notice the weirdness of these parts stuck into the concrete pad.
They are small, and seem even smaller, when they are lost in the middle of the car park.

You can select any WB value in the "Develop" section of LR (next to "Library"), then save it to a preset.
However, AFAIK you can't save a custom white balance preset as an item in the WB drop-down list.
Once set to the right value, you can also select several images and synch WB (as many other parameters) in between pictures.
Hope this helps.

Hence your nickname, "Jacquot"?
Thank you. I debated between colour and B&W, and quickly went for the second option.
They were an example of plug & play, with a great backward compatibility ;)

Hello everybody!
I'm afraid of being off topic, by far. However... 'cause words, sometimes, are so small in a world that is so big.

Sure Bart, sure... we'll be there on the next contest.

Albeit not that good.
I have crawled through my archives and found two errr... possibly suitable pics. Oh my.
'cause yeah, castles in northern France are mostly made of red brick.
And my last entry: a collection of windows.

Time to post my third and latest entry. I have to confess it isn't the one I wanted at first. Anyway it will do the trick.
A bit of motion blur for this night shot...
