PMs replied to.

The cost of shipping overseas is outrageous here unfortunately :( It pretty much kills the deal.

Item for Sale
Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4.5 DC Macro Lens

Asking Price
150 AUD

Item Location
Sydney (Australia)

Item Description
I used this lens almost exclusively on my K-x. I have been very pleased with the sharpness, even wide open. Compared to the newer f2.8-4.5 version this lens is sharper, more compact and has higher max magnification (0.43x).

No significant marks or scratches but the rubber zoom/focus rings have attracted some dust. The optics are free from fungus or other nasties.

Asking for $150 AUD net to me. Sydney pickup is possible, or I can post to anywhere in Australia for $15 (registered). International shipping is probably prohibitively expensive but I'm willing if the buyer accepts responsibility. Add 3% for a Paypal regular payment.

Indeed. It's better to cannibalise your own sales than to have them cannibalised by a competitor.

DA 35mm f/2.4, DA 18-55 WR, A 50mm f/1.7, F 35-70mm f3.5-4.5

Asking Price
DA35: $140

DA18-55 WR: $85

F35-70: $40

A50/1.7: $35

Item Location
Sydney (Australia)

Item Description
Prices are in AUD and are net to me - add 3% if not sending as a gift. Will post anywhere at cost but tracking mandatory for regular Paypal. Local transaction may also be possible.

All lenses are free from fungus and scratches on elements. Expect a normal amount of internal dust which needless to say will not have an impact on image quality.

Sorry for all the images.

Pentax-DA 35mm f/2.4 AL: Good condition, small scuff mark on barrel - see crop below. Tack sharp lens. Includes front and rear caps.

$150.

Pentax-F 35-70mm f3.5-4.5: Good condition except for slight peeling of rubber trim, visible in the second picture. Includes leather hard case and both caps. Impressively sharp zoom that is well liked here but I couldn't get used to the wide end being 35.

$45

Pentax-DA 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 WR: Excellent condition, can't notice any wear. Includes box, documentation, hood and both caps.

$90

Pentax-A 50mm f/1.7 parts in a ziplock bag: I had an A50/1.7 with a gritty focus ring that I decided to fix. Now I have an A50/1.7 in parts, with a gritty focus ring.

The glass is in excellent condition and I've retained most of the bigger parts but can't guarantee that none of the tiny springs/ball bearings have escaped. The focus ring is also kind of gritty. Might be useful for someone with a semblance of coordination who wants to upgrade their A50/2.

$40

They aren't all weather sealed though. Most just have an O-ring at the lens mount, like the 17-70 f4.

Regarding OP. It's silly that Pentax strengths are weather sealing and primes... but not at the same time.

I meant sensor based PDAF, not small sensor with a new mount :p

The Nikon V1/J1 route seems like it would have been ideal here, with a lineup of legacy lenses designed for PDAF.

Pentax 60mm f2.8 FF(35mm) + 90mm f2.8 (645) Macro lens patents

It is, although the 60/2 was in existence when the patent was filed and I have a sneaking suspicion it may turn out to be the more useful lens.

The 18-250 is another history but I can definitely see fostering a good relationship with third party manufacturers as beneficial.

Should have just licensed the Tamron 60mm f/2 like they did the 18-250mm IMO. Internal focusing, non-recessed front element to maximise working distance, very good sharpness, also useful as a portrait/low light lens. Add WR and it would be a real winner.

Save for 31mm or just get the 43mm

It is indeed available for Sony/Minolta, but that's probably because Sony owns a chunk of Tamron (not to mention they have a fair bit more market share than Pentax).

Edit: too slow.

Seems like a great versatile lens, but I was under the impression it was not available or K mount. Which is a damn shame because I would have bought one.

Sorry if it's bad form to resurrect a thread in this manner, but I had a read after noticing this phenomenon in my images and was curious about this comment.

How does the use of flash allow shutter blur to be eliminated? The max sync speed seems to be well within the region of extraneous blur and the added weight doesn't seem great enough to eliminate the effect.

I really appreciate the articles, by the way. Wish this sort of rigorous, informed testing was more common.

Spots coming and going on K20D sensor

I'm on the same boat, but for a much sillier reason.

I saw a lonely spot on a sky picture and somehow formulated the brilliant idea of wiping the sensor with a t-shirt. No before picture though and I think I saw particles on the sensor before my blunder so some of it might have been there beforehand.

Running the sensor shake a few dozen times got rid of a single grain. I also tried using a synthetic brush as per this site with the blowerless method. First bunch of swipes removed a small number and shifted around some of the rest, second go moved some around but didn't make any immediately noticeable difference to quantity (I didn't attempt to count them).

I'll be getting a Giottos and trying that either directly or by charging the brush. Somehow I doubt that that it will be enough so I hope I haven't inflicted any damage that can't be undone by a professional clean.

Also, hi!
