K-50 and DA*16-50.

Dynamic range always impresses me with my K-50/K-5, don't think I could have made the shot with my old K-1000 and Kodacolor Gold 200!

That hay field is long overdue but it made the morning dew shine like diamonds in that lighting!

Taken with a K-50 and DA*16-50.

This is a pano done using the A50/1.4 closed at f/2.0. An amazing lens for astrophotography! 4 frame pano, each frame is a stack of 4 X 60s iso 800 on a K-50 using the astrotracer function.

Jupiter takes centre stage on this one is a very crowded part of the Milky Way.

Look at that corn going! Out here spring is so slow, most of it is still in the bags. Nice colors!

Really happy with the Theta SC, so simple and easy to use. I found that in manual settings you can get it to shoot for 60 s and decided to try it on the Milky Way. Lots of noise but result is internet worthy I think. I saw some people have actually stacked several shots to lower the noise. I'm going to try that next time.

Here a single shot 60 s iso 1600 from Val-des-Bois, Québec. The bright light dome is Ottawa 60 km south and the orange, fainter light dome is Montreal 165 km away!

Thanks! The sky changes so quickly at that moment of the day, I never know for sure how it's going to turn out.

Moon rising over fishing shacks on the Ottawa river. Venus and Jupiter appear above right of the moon. Really like working with the plastic fantastic 35/2.4 for this kind of shot. Very sharp and low CA is what you need for a thin crescent like this.

Night Two views of Wirtanen

Many thanks! Actually Sirius had not been blown out by the clouds but it looked so tiny compared to all the stars in Orion I decided to puff it up a bit with starspike pro 4 so it would regain its top position. I may have pushed the slider a bit far...

For the Pleiades/comet shot everything fell into place perfectly, the tracer worked very well (I rejected none of the 18 frames), focus was very good, at the time the clouds cleared, the comet was still high in the sky in the middle between two light pollution domes. And all of this on the night of closest approach to Earth and closest to the Pleiades. It's like winning at the lottery!

I was so lucky last weekend to get a couple of hours of clear moonless night while the rest of the continent was overcast it seems. The first shot is a pano of 3 pictures of 40 s iso 800 with Pentax K-50 and Samyang 16 mm F2. The second is a stack of 18 X 30 s iso 800 with K-5 and Rokinon 135 mm F2 @ f/2.0. Both shots were tracked by astrotracer.

It was a beautiful night last weekend and had the chance to go to a remote frozen lake to shot the stars with a few fellow astrophotographers (and Pentaxians were in majority!). Comet Wirtanen is very bright on long exposures but still not visible to the naked eye. On the next weekend it should be even brighter and located near the Pleiades in Taurus, a photo opportunity not to be missed.

60 s with astrotracer for the stars and 60 s without for the foreground, blended in PSE14

If those lens have infinity focus right at the end of the range of motion of the focus ring you may loose infinity focus in very cold temps. It happened to me with an A50/1.4 at -28°C just 20 min after putting the camera on top of the tripod. I even had two hand warmers strapped to to lens to prevent dew. Switched to DA*50-135 and was ok.

Thanks! Indeed the Adirondacks get very busy during fall colors, even on a rainy day!

Thank you! A quick edit in Topaz Clarity can go a long way in improving a shot.
