Even adjusting the AWB trough the “white paper” method (under 5500/5000 Kelvin), the results are not so “good” as obtained with K10D. I think that the difference is probably the sensor. Once more, RAW gives us the final decision in order to get the “correct” color temperature.

Just like me. The manual and the camera adjustments do not solve me the color temperature problem till now. I’m going in my second K5 (got same knowledge of the camera configurations). Anyway; K5 was a good choice and I’m glad about its general performance.

I have been using several adjastements in order to achive the correct balance, even comparing the images taken at the same time with K5 and K10 but, FOR K5, CS4 (RAW format) is my solution.

After 5 months I feel the same but in relation to my K10D. CS4 helps me when passing from RAW to jpg. It is probably a small adjatement not found till today.:(

2. Turn off in-camera noise reduction, which sometimes produces smeared results.

One more step. Thank you:cool:

I already did that Dave. One more tool (filter) in my CS4. It is as you refer. The result is evident. Now it’s a matter of training. Thank you very much. The next step will be the “mirror up process” testing’s. I’m learning a lot.

I’m sorry about this off-topic subject.
Thank you very much Dave. Your explanation gives me a lot of new ideas. My next photo, ISO 800, shows a night time scene free of software production. Only RAW to jpg trough CS4. As you see, the noise is there. My objective is capturing same movement during the starting of the rail compositions. 60, 90 or 125, correctly aligned, are enough. The results, till now, are not what I expected. A stable tripod is always with me.
Regards, Vítor

Lovely images you have in your collection.

I do not know if the question is appropriated or probably inconvenient but; what kind of edition software or camera HIGH ISO NR settings you are using? I have been trying to shoot (outdoor) selecting ISO 1600 to gain in speed but the results are far away from what you and some people have been showing in this forum.
Best regards, Vitor
