I'm back - maybe......

I had to try it on my new K=5IIs since you posted this Norm and it seems to work in fine fashion!:) I tried to do a quick test to see if the aperture was changing for each shot but I think I would need to go about testing in a more methodical manner, especially since I am still quite unfamiliar with the K-5.

And if the firmware is up to date, the PLM can be your every day carry lens as it is a lot lighter than the 60-250! (Cheaper also!)

Questions for D-BG7 owners

1. Yes I own it
2. About 75% of the time, even with a Limited mounted, always when I had a 300mm+ lens on for balance and in lens OS usage.
3. Both! I had extra from when I had my K-50 then KP so I started with the smaller battery in the adapter. Now it is whatever I grab and usually it is the larger now that I have 4 of them since acquiring a K-5IIs. Now finding a charger when I need it may be a different matter. that is why the interchangeable plate system is kind of cool. With the large battery I don't have to change the batteries for days even when taking a few hundred each day and walking around with the camera on stalking wildlife.

Only problem is that additional 25 dollars for the Royal Mail to send them here. The listing detail says for Nikon so they are obviously not Pentax fans.

K30->kp

I went from a K-50 to a KP and have been amazed by many improvements over the K-50, (K-30s bigger twin brother.) Better dust removal, better high ISO performance, quieter shutter, tilt screen, faster electronic shutter, no AA filter!, perfect with Limiteds as is, still great with long lenses, especially with the battery grip, (NA for K-50.)

As a coworker who majored in marketing told me yesterday; Marketing is nothing but making you think that what you have is inadequate (trash,) and that the product advertised will bring you joy. (Or success or inner peace or some such jibber jabber.) :D

Disappointment due to Sigma 17-50 f2.8 on K50

The 30mm F/1.4 non HSM Sigma I had was a bit schizophrenic in its focusing behavior so I returned it. One shot would nail the focus and the nest two or three would vary between front and back focused. A wonky aperture didn't help.

Remember that Pentax can't shoot moving things... Especially something like a barn swallow a long way away over a lake. Cropped to 1600 by 1064 or so. DA*300.

Here is the first and the somewhere in the teens count of images I took with it today. I went to the Post office to have them hold it so I could walk up at lunch and get the package! Both with the SMC DA 21.

An immaculate K-5IIs that feels like a bit of a chunk after walking around with my KP for over a year. Feels great in the hand though! The seller even threw in M42 50mm and an adapter as well as extra batteries. Bought here of course! Now to see what lens needs to stay on it day to day. The SMC DA 21 loves the body already!

Hockey fans are not generally of the bandwagon variety. The Blues ending 49 years of frustration since the Bruins beat them in four games leaves a lot of pent up desire to celebrate!

Pentax retailer in the Bay area?

At one time you could rent one from a few online businesses, but I think only the K-1 and KP are available these days. Both are wonderful though! SInce the K-3 is no longer made, just buy one from a reputable dealer used and they will take it back if for some reason it isn't good. (Unlikely but always a possibility for a lemon to slip through!)
