Think I just picked up a brand new Manfrotto geared head for £65 including postage . (RRP £150). Should make star shots a lot easier !

Havenít posted for a while, so probably ought to confess to a few more purchase sins over the last year ;)

Pentax k1-ii (£1400)
Pentax 150-450 ($1000)
Pentax 24-70 (£500)
Pentax mz-7 and 28-70 lens with Lowepro small bag (£10)
Careell backpack (£75)
Pentax k-01 and 40mm Xs pancake lens (£150)
Sigma 70-300mm OS for video
Astrotrac
Pentax SMC 2x-S Teleconverter (£30)
Andoer 3 way tripod head (£20)

And sold a few :
Ioptron skytracker pro
Tamron 300mm f2.8 and adapters

As my GAS is getting out of control, I am intending to convert the K-01 to IR, sell my K-30 (aperture block fail) and sell the K3ii , plus any lenses that donít fit in the new bag !
(My DA* 300 and 16-50 are feeling neglected since the 150-450 arrived)

Seeing it written down is horrifying ...

Need to sell some stuff !!!

Night Andromeda with the K-1 - 18 Image Stack

I checked my sub's and I shot f5.6 at 1600 for 20s , at 450mm on a crop sensor so not that different. I guess the K3ii might be noisier than your K1, and I shot 1600 and 12800, rather than f5.6 and f8.0, but the difference is night and day. Perhaps light pollution is causing my biggest problems. Everything comes out noisy and colourless. Will try your settings next time it's clear and see if I get any improvements :)

That's one reason I went for the 150-450. A little easier to frame :) My results are shoddy compared to these though. More practice needed !

Thanks. I'll try that program as I feel sure something is going wrong in deepskystacker.

Great shots. What lens were you using for that, and what were the sub exposures ? I get nowhere near that good.

http://www.astronomyreviews.com/allscopes/astrotractt320.htm. The theory us that I should be able to image for 5-10 minutes with this rig. With the astrotracer, I get 30s to 1m but have to reposition frequently .

Picked up an Astrotrac tt320x for a smidgeon over £200 including the polar scope and power lead. Now I just need clear skies to start pixelshifting Andromeda.

Also picked up a 150-450 and UV filter for $1100 dollars delivered to UK.

Sold a 60-250 and about to sell a Tamron 300mm f2.8 and maybe an Ioptron skytracker , and 2*Sigma 70-300's before the Mrs adds the numbers up....

SR II on K-1 MKII will offer Dynamic (handheld) Pixel Shift Resolution

If PS is no longer moving the sensor , then that implies that the Astro mode (which also requires movement of the sensor) can now work with Pixel Shift. That sounds like the K1ii now might permit pixel shift Astro mode. That would be very nice .....

I bought a K3ii but still have the k-30 I haven't fixed or sold yet. That does seem steep. I was going to give it a mate who is competent enough to fix it, but he's not popped by for a while, so thought I might get it repaired.

Seller doesn't want to ship it, and I don't fancy it enough to drive for 2 hours each way, so we may never know more :)

Looks wise - It looks a bit like the old Vivitar 75-200 autofocus that does show up in a google search. I may be wrong about it being autonomous but it looks crazy big for normal autofocus and specifies its for Pentax K Mount , not PKA.

It is remarkable because it contains a standalone autofocus system. That doesn't It is remarkable because I think it contains a standalone autofocus system which sounds like a historical curiosity.
That doesn't necessarily equate to valuable or useful though :)

Interestingly, the entire internet seems unaware of the existence of this lens.

I'm guessing Miranda enthusiasts are more rare still though ;)

Hi Folks,

Am I right in thinking that a Miranda lens with built in standalone autofocus are a pretty rare curiosity ? The one I have my eye on is a 75-200mm Macro f4.5 in PK mount. It looks like the old vivitar 'in lens , standalone autofocus ' systems .

I'm guessing they're not worth a lot, but if one fell into my hands, does anyone have a clue what such an oddity be worth to a collector?

I really don't need another lens, but it looks intriguing.

Cheers,

Ian.

Yes, when I saw mine listed at 100 GBP I thought it was a bargain but had just spent big on a DA* 300 so didn't go for it at first. Others on eBay that day were selling for 110-130 so it wasn't quite bargainous enough. When I saw it had dropped to 72 after Xmas, and all the eBay ones were back up to 200 quid, couldn't resist. :) The seller had some lovely pics on their Facebook page which I would guess originated from this lens.

I should wait till it arrives before I celebrate though ... not arrived yet.
