How about the use of the plural word “they”, when he or she would be appropriate?
As in, “The driver was tested for drugs, and they were found to be ...”. I mean, how many drivers were there?

What is interesting about this thread is that the OP might get his spelling and choice of words correct when writing it all down, but there is no guarantee that we could understand him if he was speaking. He comes from a small group of Islands where the people eat fush and chups and where cricketers hit the ball for sucks.

There are some remarkable regional differences in the use of words in OZ, just as there seems to be in the Land of the Free: I donít recall every hearing coloured or bedroomed in those contexts. You must have been in South Australia or somewhere equally odd.:lol:

I would use preventive as, I suppose, an adjective- as in “taking preventive action”.
I would use preventative as a noun - my Flixotide inhaler in a preventative.
I have no grammatical reason for so doing.

On reflection, disregard all that, the inhaler is a preventative medication. They are both adjectives and interchangeable .

I should think things through before typing.

I used Open Office years ago and found some of the functions that I used most in Excel just weren't there.
Since I am now retired and don't do any heavy lifting with Excel, perhaps I should give it a go again.

Wangaratta - an hour or so from the snow, rivers to fish in, never colder than -6c and never hotter than about 43c (but only a couple of days in a year, for both coldest and hottest).
Also wineries to four corners of the compass, a couple of craft brewers in the district; what's not to like?

Mmmmm. why am I here? - I don't drink, I don't ski, I don't like -6c mornings and I don't like 43c days.
But it is still a good place - 230 kms from Melbourne if you like cities (Ahh - that's why I am here.)
I am on the edge of town and my Council rates are $2300.

(Really lied about the distance to the snow - 2 hours to either Falls Creek or Mount Hotham.
And petrol (gas) costs an arm and a leg
And some times the fog lifts at 3pm and settles again at 4pm.
And... )

Wrong.

It is not about torture.
It is about the next Mercedes or payment.

Edit - To clarify, payments are not due every 2-3-4 years, but with a rolling clientele 2-3-4 years is often enough to fill in all the required payments.

(Just joking - after few years of proper schooling most of them are almost convinced that their parents were right all along and the correct English pronunciation is Zed.)

An old thread, but ...
this fellow inhabits the Wangaratta Common Reserve (which now includes the old airstrip) and is just at the end of my street.

He was a fair way away and is severely cropped (to 872 x 1311) - Not bad I think from the 55-300 PLM

You’re welcome, jersey.
I now have KP and the PLM, and couldn’t be happier.
I haven’t tried it much on moving stuff but I have no doubt it will outperform my K5 and 18-135.

I'm no expert, (and I have had quite a few failures of birds in flight (and a couple of successes)) but trains coming towards me I have managed OK (K5, DA18-135)

Jersey, have a look at this thread. I didn't bother to read all the comments but there are a couple of images you ought to see before you write off Pentax as a bad action focusing camera;
eg long jumper on page 3 and speed boat and rally cars on page 5

Location required Noel. Location, location, location, (as the real estate agents say)
You said where the water tower is: where are the other two?

Btw, the water tower is FANTASTIC! Isn’t it?

Edit . Just looked at your Flickr page - emu at bus shelter at same location.
Humble apologies.
Are silos there also?

That is one way to stop a Landrover leaking oil.

In other news, my immigrant ancestors came out from Scotland on the good ship India. Two crew members were decanting rum below decks when some was spilt: it was a bad mistake to drop a candle at that stage. Result: India burnt to the waterline, 13 lives lost. Obviously the Grants were not among the lost.

I haven't seen it in person, but a photo of it was the first that I saw of silo art.

Thanks Tom. At each of the silos I visited there are information boards about the town, the artist, and the subject matter.
Perhaps I should edit my post and add a little info on the subjects...
