There was a bit of construction going on nearby, and it was forcing the local wildlife out of their homes. At the end of October, a small Opossum decided to start living in my back yard. After determining that it was a very healthy opossum, I relocated it to a spot in the woods where I see a lot of deer. I walk the trails and woods often, and chose a spot where I don't normally find coyote feces. It took a liking to me, and tried to follow me back to the truck like a lost kitten. I had to walk around in the woods with it until it got comfortable enough to want to stay on its own. A few days ago, I was walking near that same spot that I left it, and found this coming down a tree.

I don't know if it's the same one, but it was coming towards me and not going away from me. I stood under the tree and talked to it, just like when I released it. We got within 4 feet of each other and had a staring contest. I backed away, and it followed. It came up and walked around me, smelled my shoes, then went walking around under the pine trees. I slowly backed away and watched it dig around through the pine needles. Afterwards, it went back up into the tree and I went on my way. Considering the age and rate they grow, I want to believe this is the same one, but I really don't know for sure. Perhaps, just another curious 'possum who's never seen a human before.

It was a little difficult to follow, but I got it figured out. I didn't realize the EEPROM file saved to the SD card when I hit OK. Works great on my K7, and am about to try it on my K3's.

One last question while I still remember how to reverse everything I did.

The whole C0 to 80 thing. I had a bunch of FF's after I started getting down into it.

There was no mention of FF, just C0 to 80. So, everywhere that was FF, I changed to 80 as the instructions said, including the READ/WRITE part. It read FF, but I wrote it to 80. I assume this is correct since the lens now has autofocus again, but thought I would ask.

Edit: Works great on a K3. I cannot comment on speed comparison because it's been a year since it quit working.

Has anyone gotten this to work with the DA*300? My AF stopped working about a year ago and I was considering trying this. Reading through the instrucstions, without having done anything yet, I am confused as to what this line means:

Do I change C0 to 80 in column 3? Or is this an option I will see once I have everything hooked up?

Another angle of the alligator in the woods from the other point of access.

And another of a much smaller alligator for size comparison, seen about a mile and a half away.

Excellent photos. Do you have a link to those settings? I am curious to see.

Thanks! If I had access to get around to that side, I would have gotten closer. That alligator isn't going to attack me. It knows that I am too big to eat. At most, I will scare it back into the water, which is what I don't want to do. I don't like to disturb them. Just watch, get some pics, let them be, and move on. Besides, if it did give chase, they're only fast in a straight line for a small amount of time.

I frequent Seabrook Wildlife Refuge more than any other place due to the variety of wildlife. Sometimes, I venture off the trail and make my way into the woods. A little ways off the trail, there is a small pond surrounded by trees and vegetation. The vegetation is so thick, that are only two places that I can get to, that will give me a clear view of the pond. I've seen an alligator here before, but have only managed head shots as it was in the water each time I saw it. In March I managed to catch the alligator out of the water.

I use Flickr to host my pictures so that I can post them here. There are other options. I'll keep my Flickr account for the time being and see how it all changes. If you don't want your personal info posted online, don't post it online. To access my Flickr account, Yahoo has what? A name that's not my real name, and a phone number? I don't even think they have my phone number.

More from Lafitte's Cove in Galveston. I spent 10 days there from sun-up to sun-down to catch the migration. I logged over 118 species in Ebird that I had never seen before. I met a guy who taught me how to follow the wind and weather on how to find birds. Using what he taught me, I caught 2 fallouts. It was the best birding experience I have had so far and am forever hooked.

This Parula was giving me the poses.

This Bronzed Cowbird became my nemesis. I just couldn't get a decent shot of it. I saw it many times, but never in the right place.

There were 3 of these Indigo's in the tree. I focused, adjusted exposure, pushed the shutter, and.... nothing. Batteries died. By the time I got a battery in the grip, one had flown away. :(

This water moccasin crossed over the trail right next to me. A few days later, I heard stories about a snake eating a migratory bird in the same spot.

I found someone who got a picture of the incident on Flickr.

They were coming through Galveston in the hundreds a few weeks ago. It felt like every time I saw a bird and looked through the viewfinder, it was a Tennessee. Some people were listing them by the millions on Ebird.

I recently spent 10 days birding a hotspot. I met loads of people from all over the world who had cameras. I was the only Pentax person. I do enjoy seeing the confused look someone gets when you catch them eyeballing your camera and they read the logo.
