Canon 5Dii/ Nikon D800E impression

Have been a Pentax user for a while (K20D & K5) I recently decided to move to FF. Borrowed my friends Canon5DII for 2 weeks.
My impression between K5 & 5Dii:
K5 feels more solid, better build
K5 has better white balance, especially under electric light. 5Dii way too yellow/red under electric light.
K5's sensor has better low light performance than 5Dii. This is a surprise to me. In the same brightness K5 needs lower ISO than 5DII assuming same speed and F.
5Dii's picture shows more contrast. Sharpness very close 5Dii maybe 1% sharper.
5Dii has more accurate auto focus, especially in lower light conditions.
5Dii has better/more accurate live view LCD focus. K5's live view focus so bad I avoid using it.
5Dii 's sensor shows brighter, richer color than K5
At the end it was the 5Dii's terrible auto white balance under electrical light backed me off. So I moved to a 2nd FF choice: Nikon D800E.
My impression after 1 week between K5 & D800E:
K5 still feel more solid and better build than D800E!
K5 still has better auto white balance under electric light than D800E, although the D800E is a little better WB compare to 5DII.
K5's low light performance ties the D800E in my view.(surprise to me!)
D800E 's IQ is noticeable sharper than K5. Maybe 3% sharper.If K5=95, 5Dii=96, D800E=98
D800E's Auto focus accuracy is better than k5. about the same as 5Dii.
D800E's sensor is richer, brighter in color. more than the 5Dii too.
D800E's build quality feel in between K5 & 5Dii.
I am happy with my D800E so far. But looking at the price difference between the 2.
I have to say the Pentax K5 is a very, very solid performer at a steal price currently.

I think the shake reduction is automatic turn off when switching to delayed shutter release mode.

I did a test to see if there are any difference between 2 with K5+40mm2.8: I was very careful: test done on heavy tripod. mirror lock was done by live view+2 seconds delayed shutter release. So there is absolute no tough of the camera. Result came out that the IQ of non mirror lock with hand press the shutter is sharper than mirror lock. I repeated the test 3 times. The results came out same. Anyone knows why?

Hi Everybody:
I reacently tried to purchase a lens from our market place. I tried to offer 3-4 lens "in active" for sale status. All of them are sold already. Is our market place slow on updating the sale/sold status? Or it's me don't know how to identify the sold status?

K20D+DA40Limited vd Lumix LX5!?

Took a lot of pictures when I went to Acadia National park last week. I (as all of you guys) expect to see better results from my k20D+DA40mm's than my Lumix LX5's. BUT I can hardly tell the difference in detail other than color tone. Please help me find out why??

I set K20D at Max 14.5M RAW, ISO 200, Lumix at max 10 M JPEG ISO 80. Most of my picture taken faster than 1/500 sec with steady hand, f5.6-8.0 for both cameras. I compare the pictures under my 27" 1920x1080 monitor zoomed in to details.

My LX5's sensor size is 0.46 (sq cm) vs 20D's 3.6 (sq cm). Only 1/8th of the K20D's!!. I expect to see at least 4 times as much details. Please give your input.

Hi everybody. I am new to the forum. I recently posted 2-3 threads. Every time I post them a message says the thread will be reviewed before post. I don't mind my post to be reviewed. But not a 1+hour review! I bet even Bin Ladin wouldn't get a 1+hour search if he got captured alive!!

DA15Limited lens got a bad review

The DA 15mm limited: a 9.4 rating (3rd highest in DA prime section) by 40+Pentax users in got a bad review from DP Review. Please read:

"The real problem for the 15mm F4, though, lies in the competition, and specifically Pentax's own 12-24mm F4 zoom. This has much in common optically with the Tokina AT-X PRO SD 12-24mm F4 (IF) ED, which we tested recently and found to be a superior performer in almost all regards. It's simply much sharper than the 15mm F4, especially wide open, and exhibits lower falloff and equally low distortion (although it does suffer more from chromatic aberration). It's not often a zoom lens can outgun a prime in terms of image quality, but that certainly seems to be the case here, and by a surprising margin too."

Wow! a surprising margin!! How accurate are the review??:eek:
