Got this one last summer when I was on holidays but always was too lazy to edit it!...

Not entirely sure what lens I used, but seeing that it's been taken at 135mm I'd say it's my Super Varexon 135/2.8. It's 4x 5s exposures.

Thunderstorm was fairly substantial, the rain it brought too. Could barely see anything anymore! Needless to say that I took my gear off the balcony (had it perched on the parapet on a gorilla pod, with me clinging onto the strap).
Went to enjoy a gin down at the bar. I got that nice excited feeling you usually know from being a kid when something is going on! :D

Got two more from the other day.

Only just noticed the faint bokeh swirls in the background on this!

Really liked the colours here. The old way of spelling "telephone" in German helps make it look older. (it's "Telefon" now).

Went for a short walk along the Lake of Brienz whilst my dad got shopping with my grandmother and suddenly noticed how swirly the bokeh got in this flowerbed.
Haven't used my helios much lately and it always takes me by surprise. I think I stopped the lens down my a fraction to get a tiny bit more contrast in.

Brilliant! Really like the warm/cold contrast.

Vintage glass, RAW or JPEG?

Regarding altering the character of the lens in post: It really depends what you do and what you're after. I think colour grading etc shouldn't destroy the character or you would have had to stick to the same film and never change that. For me the character mostly lies in the contrast and bokeh (and other characteristics of course, depending on the lens!). I feel like adding more contrast can take away lots of character and I frequently find myself lowering it.

Mind, I've now been using vintage (and antique) glass for a couple of years and am finally trying to get myself to process colours more. I feel like it got a bit boring without changing much and I haven't felt like I took anything away from the lenses characters.

I might try a breakfast suitable to the country of the lens' origin someday and see what I get!

Just had a look, you're right. the mirror does stay up, it's the shutter.

However with the electronic shutter, after taking the photo the regular shutter closes on mine. I'm assuming this is normal, but I don't quite understand why it does that!

I'd not be on this forum if Pentax would not have had the "select body and grip colour" option.
My mum and me both could have a say (she didn't want a black body anyways). Ended up with an orange body and blue grips. It grew on me.

Would have bought a non black K-1 in a heart beat, but now that I've got one..

I don't think I've ever taking a non accidental high key shot. :D

Thanks! You're right, that is most probably why the "correctly" exposed shots didn't do it for me.

Yes, that's exactly what it's got to me too. The slightly haunting appearance is why I quite like fog!

Sorry for the late reply, I had a fairly bad head cold the past week. All good again now. :)

Here, have a photo I dug out today for my website.

Shot last June:

LS911 9x11 inch large format digital camera

Yes, my slow typing on my phone prevented me from seeing your above post. ;)

I'm happy to see it succeed, I suppose the price tag alone will create a small market for it, and I suppose for some studios and artists it'd be very convenient as you say.

However for landscapes I'd prefer cobbling together a camera with an array of medium format sensors and something to move them, let's call it 'pickle-shift', to bridge the gap between them. A modular sensor. :p

The flatbed scanner conversion from a few years ago impressed me too..

I mean, that's cool and all but..

How much film that size could you shoot (and get higher resolution) for that price?

I mean, sure, 12mp is technically enough, but I'm not sure I deem 12mp on a 9x11 enough?..

As I said, it's cool and all but it's niche in the niche of photography that is large format photography would be so small.. I guess that it justifies the price. :D

Here's a small 'accident' from last week.

Overexposed the shot, but ended up preferring it to the correctly exposed ones when converting it to monochrome.
Not sure what it is, but it's got something I like. :)

Has anyone here tried the russian 92/2 projector lens (sometimes references as "helios 92")?

I'm currently trying to talk myself out of it...

How bad can scratches on the front glass of a lens affect image quality ?

Tell them you just found out the worth of the lens and that he screwed them over. :p
They should have at least checked back with you!

I'm assuming he'll sell it on for profit?
You at least would have used it yourself and not sold it on (I assume ;) ).

How very infuriating.

Personally I'd probably stop volunteering there, it's no fun when shady stuff like that happens. And yes, maybe have a word or two with the manager.

Now thats unconventional, Dave! :D

I believe cracks can be masked quite well with black marker.

Doubt scratches will show up that badly, and you'd never notice anyways if you don't know how the lens in pristine condition would perform! It's just visually not as pleasing to look at the lens.

Not sure if this is going to happen.
Of the three rolls the bw 120 has the print of the backing paper on it.. The colour 120 might also have that issue, not sure yet. I might get enough usable shots out of the 35mm I shot though.

Installed wrong firmware update?

I was wondering if you were not setting the iso but simply limiting the range in which auto iso can act and thus limiting it to a range that could not possibly have given a correct exposure together with your shutter and aperture settings.

Out of interest, what ISO mode is your camera set to? Auto or manual? Also what aperture settings? Auto or manual?

For some reason I lately had absolutely no interest in post processing my photos.
I may also have fallen in love with.. now don't you hold your breath, it's a camera & film combo.. my Ensign Commando and Rollei Ortho 25. So I've mostly been shooting that lately. Less hassle. It seems like I can never can get the colours on digital images to look like I'd want them to, so resorting to a b/w film that is completely blind to one colour makes sense I guess. ;) :o

I believe I've shot enough film this weekend (providing the photos are usable!) to cover the whole month, however I doubt I have the patience to scan one per day and would do them in two batches or so.

Would that count? :o

I believe the Takumar 55/1.8 has thorium in it and thus would yellow with age.
UV/sunlight should clear it. Don't eat it or sleep on it an you'll be fine. ;)

The other lenses are very nice as far as I know, wonderful deal. :)
I'd also like to find a 135/2.5 for that price!

Enjoy the camera and the lenses!
