Item for Sale
Sigma 70-200 F2.8 APO EX DG OS HSM - excellent condition!

Asking Price
650.00 USD

Item Location
Ottawa (Canada)

Item Description
Selling this fantastic Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 APO EX DG OS lens

Condition: excellent 9/10

Reason for selling: I donít use it as often anymore. Kids have stopped playing soccer.
Itís been fantastic lens for me.

All blades work fine. No dust or scratches on the front lens nor the back. The zoom works perfect.

Soon as I bought it, the lens coat neoprene protector was put on. Iím pretty careful with my camera gear so itís well taken care of. Never used in the rain or snow.

4 years left on warranty too. I have the original receipt which I can include as well

For shipping, I'll calculate that once I have the buyer's address. No surcharges added to it - whatever it costs to ship is the cost. I'm not out to gouge anyone :)

Original box is included and I would ship that inside another box with a pile of bubble wrap and other protective materials.

I don't know if there are any duty charges either, but I assume that would be the buyer's responsibility to pay.

Thanks!

Your vehicle: what do you have, why do you like it, and what do you not like?

Hi,

2015 Toyota Tundra

Things I like:

Power - lots of it. Never ending. When I pull our camper, I can pass transports like a hot knife through butter. Same when pulling my smaller ATV toy hauler.
Space - lots of that too. With the TRD package and the full crew cab, I have space for my hunting or camera gear, plus passengers
Reliability - it's a Toyota. 'nuff said. Every Toyota has been rock solid for us
Value - Toyotas hold their value. Every time I've sold a Toyota, they've held their value immensely.
Feel - the driving experience is sweet. The vehicle is put together well. Doesn't have that plastic feel to it.

What I don't like:
Gas mileage - but then again, I drive a truck so I don't worry about it. Otherwise, I would drive myself nuts worrying about.

Cheers,
Brian

Hi,

I have a bunch of snowy owls living 7 minutes from my house so I've been out plenty trying to get the right shot.

This snowy was in the middle of a farmer's field. I found a slight depression in the ground which put the bird higher than me.
I waited until it took off and managed this shot.

Enjoy!

Cheers,
Brian

Understood! :) I'm definitely not paid by anyone. In one way, maybe that's a bad thing because that means no free gear lol

PS. I wouldn't doubt companies would pay people. The ground roots marketing through Youtube and social media is incredibly power - however misleading or true it may be.

I have to admit I haven't been on the forums as much as I should - I didn't realize that mirrorless has been talked about in length.
I suppose that does answer (but not justify) the line of feedback I received lol

Thanks for clarifying.

Brian

Thanks Jatrax. I do look forward to news of a K3 II replacement. I do love my K3.

You're right - I shouldn't have mentioned that a mirrorless should be a replacement for DSLR because they are technically different. I should have said as another option to their product line.

Brian

Seriously? I was asking whether or not anyone believes Pentax will come out with a mirrorless.

Hard to believe anyone could deny that Sony's new announcement doesn't rock the DSLR camera world.
The gap of how a DSLR could out perform a mirrorless just shrunk significantly. The writing is on the wall.

I take offense to the troll comment. Perhaps another angle to my comment/hope is that I believe in what Pentax is doing and I think if anyone can rival the A7 III, it could be Pentax.
But just because I believe in the company, doesn't mean I require blinders to what is happening in the industry.

But carry on with the uppity attitude.

Brian

Thanks for the info Adam.

Does anyone wonder if the next K3 successor will be mirrorless?

It certainly seems that Sony 'dropped the mic' on the camera world with its A7III recent announcement.
The features for the price point make it a very compelling choice - for example: 693 focus points, supposedly wicked fast AF and 8 fps for uncompressed raw = WOW! Yes, I know the lens are expensive. Image IQ looks pretty damn good too.

I have to think that Ricoh saw that release from Sony and hopefully will release a mirrorless equivalent.

Hoping there is more news in the next few months. I'm getting itchy to upgrade and it's been 2 or 3 years since the K3 II.

Cheers,
Brian

Hi Norm,

Thanks. I wasn't whining - I clearly asked whether I was wrong to compare the 2. I was looking for feedback which I received and referred to my inexperience :)

I guess, in the end, it's not so my much my selfish desires for a camera, but maybe hoping Ricoh comes out with something to knock the socks off Canon/Nikon with a great all around camera because I do love their cameras and want to see them around for a long time.

Cheers,
Brian

Hi Mark,

Thanks for clarifying - I was wrong - the D850 does 7 on the body only and 9 with the grip.

For the AF, I've wondered if I'm crazy or not because more often than not, I've found the AF doesn't lock the target as fast I would I like. Now, I also haven't shot other brands so I've got nothing to compare it with. I have read other articles where different shooters using both a Pentax or Nikon/Canon seem to lock in quicker. Or maybe my expectations are just overblown....that's possible.

I would definitely do more video if my K3 was better at it. I'm hoping that these DSLRs can somewhat replace a camcorder for certain situations (nothing professional).

Cheers,
Brian

I'll most likely get flamed for this post, but I'm disappointed nothing more was done about more AF points and a speed increase in that AF.

Perhaps it's my inexperience compared to others although I think that also can be helpful in analysis because I'm looking at at differently.

ie. Why does Nikon have so many AF and it's so fast? Pure question. What is different in the technology that they can do it faster, but Ricoh can't? Or maybe Ricoh just won't? edited: I did re-read Ricoh's announcement and they said the AF Tracking algorithm has been revised to improve tracking accuracy of fast moving subjects.

Also, no 4K video? I find that lacking. I mean, the video on my K3 sucks unless I'm completely 100% stable and non moving. Anything hand held brings the jello effect to video. It's terrible.

4.4 fps - what? WHAT?! Again, how can other brands have 10fps on a ff, but not Ricoh?
Now, perhaps Ricoh is marketing towards non fast action type of shooters? Am I maybe just too inexperienced to think 4.4fps isn't a bad thing?

I love the speed of my K3. 7fps is pretty sweet, but I do find the AF isn't as fast as I think it could be at times. Yes, I did make some recommended changes to the camera set up per the "perfect focus everytime" thread by Wired (a great help!)
An increase in buffer would be nice too.

I've been looking at the Nikon D850. It just seems like a fantastic piece of equipment. I was hoping the K1 II would rival it.

I do understand that the K1 II has some remarkable features others don't. One thing I LOVE about my K3 is the WR. Being able to stay out in the snow or rain (I live in Canada) is a great peace of mind. I don't do it all the time, but when it's precipitating out, I don't let it stop me :)

Maybe I'm faulty for comparing the more expensive D850? ie. is the D850 in a different class of camera like my K3 isn't comparable to a K1?

Try not to flame me too bad. I'm not hating on Ricoh....more or less trying to understand if I'm right to be not be enthusiastic about the update.

Also, any idea when a new K3 II successor might be announced? I heard maybe the fall? If a K3 III (or whatever the naming convention would be) has 4K , 7 or more fps and better AF, I might be all over it as well.

Cheers,
Brian

Hi folks,

The same snowy was sitting on a fence post almost like she was guarding the field from the snowy who hangs out on the field beside her (they've fought before).

Or maybe she was looking for food.

Or both.

Enjoy!

Hi everyone!

I've been lucky enough to have 5 or 6 snowy owls living not far from my house (ie. a 7 minute drive).

Although not too cold this particular day, the wind had picked up blowing the little bit of surface snow all over.

This snowy was hunkered down trying to keep warm.

Enjoy!

Hi folks,

I have the K3.

You both did what I am leaning towards - a switch to Nikon or Canon for faster af plus longer lens selection.

I really like my K3. Iím also having fun shooting owls, but watching folks with longer lens and what appears to be faster af, has me thinking.

Oh boy. Lol

Hi folks,

I realize this thread is older, but I figure bring it up again may help others (plus I have a question :)

When I choose SEL-1, I only get the far left focus point hi lighted both in the menu selection and then when I look through the viewfinder pressing AF. Should it not start out in the middle and then move outwards (like the single point except not locked to that 1 point)?

I believe I have the latest firmware update for my K3.

Brian

Hi folks,

I have the DA* 300 and like it, but I find it doesn't AF as much as I need when filming flying snowy owls. Even without using the Pentax 1.4x TC

Does anyone in the Ottawa area have the Pentax 150-450? Of course the lens itself is a special order so I can't rent it to try it out. I'd really like to see the difference 1st hand.

I don't want to borrow overnight - just shoot a bit with it while the owner is with - I get that it isn't cheap lol

Not really interested in any of the Sigma lens.

Getting super jealous of all the folks with Nikon and Canon lens' getting in much closer than I am.

Plus the simple fact I'm not getting as many keepers as I would like.

Cheers,
Brian
