Thumbs up for the vision. Noted a few judders from the tripod, and few rough handheld shots, but they're the sort of thing only other cinematographers will note.

Thumbs down for the vocals audio - most of the instruments were clear, but the voice, couldn't understand what was being sung most of the way through.

Nice work Jon - and here's me wondering how you recorded such clear 'live' sound - so it's well mixed with the traffic and outdoors sounds.

Sucky panning performance is an on going issue for all cameras with a Rolling Shutter.

Cinematographers, that's how we roll.
I did 6 hours of driving Sunday to go from Melbourne to the Otway Ranges in south west Victoria to shoot a single fight scene ( 3 hours each way ) for a Teaser Trailer, only to be on set for a feature film by 3am Monday morning, and back to the feature for a midnight start Tuesday morning,... And all of it was worth it.

If the trailer gets us the funding for the feature, it's off to the Philippines to shoot the Feature.

K-01 doing Behind Scenes Media on both of these.

Personally,... I'd be in favor of any hypothetical K-02 following a similar physical layout.

Fuent104 : I've been intrigued by those Sony VG's for a while - they look to me like what the Canon XL series should have evolved in to.

There's a few negative reviews of them on them, especially the earlier VG10, but they do look to be good value, and very user friendly for 'video' shooters.

900 pounds, that's about $1500au ?
You could get a secondhand BMD Pocket Cam and a K-to-M4/3 adapter for that here.
And then have to deal with it's issues....
What about a secondhand VG-20 and K-to-E mount adapter?
That way you could keep using your current lenses, and IIRC it has HDMI output, so could feed an external recorder for bigger gigs later.

For all the same reasons Steve has listed (and I do love my K-01), the Pentax products are a generation or two behind where they should be for video.

I'd actually not recommend the GH-4, for my personal preference, and recommend an a Sony A7s with a K-to-E-mount adaptor.

I've used both GH-4 and A7s, and found the crop in the GH-4 to be very limiting compared to the full-frame A7s, and the menu layout on the GH-4 is pretty terrible IMHO.

The A7s is also the king of low light / available light shooting for video, easily as good as the FS700, which kicks the but of every Canon and most of the Reds.

Yes, the A7s is a lot more pricey then the GH-4, but it's a better camera for video, and it's stills match the K-5, K-01, K-30 for sharpness and detail.

The six most recent videos on this youtube channel were shot with a combination of A7s as the main camera, and K-01 or FS700 as the b-cam, with the Hit Training and Anzac Biscuit episodes also having a BMD 4K used.

For comparison, the 5 tips for Xmas episode was shot on K-01 and JVC GY-HD7, the JVC being a small, 3CCD camcorder, one of the very first generation of prosumer HD cameras, recording to internal HDD.
