I wonder how DA*200 stacks up against A* 135/1.8. There is a bit of a gap there in that range prime wise, and I just didn't think about DA* 200 as a roughly a 135 lens full frame. Interesting.

I have to tell you though that was a common occurrence back in January, when COVID was just raging ripping thru Southern California where I live. I had patients cursing at me between their labored breaths, demanding another diagnosis.

We as a society maybe at a point where people not getting vaccinated is actually beneficial in the long run. We just may have to let natural selection take its course. The tricky part is the issue of unvaccinated children though. It’s utterly unfair to ding these kids for having stupid parents.

Very sorry and hope she is getting better, and glad that the rest of the family is neg and seem asymptotic.

I find it very interesting, her story. I imagine she had PCR testing? At our children’s hospital, the viral panel we do includes non COVID variant corona virus, along w a slew of other usual stuff. Not a molecular biologist here but I wonder the rate of cross reactivity in PCR testing amongst various strains. I simply wonder how often false positives occur due to the limitations of the testing itself.

Or that this is not that unusual, vaccines offering varying degree of protection. Or that natural immunity is indeed working, and fever may well be a part of anti (or pro) inflammatory process taking place. Without prior exposure she may have been worse off against presumably a variant strain

School is an impossible situation, of course until we can vaccinate all the way down to 5~6 or above, which I’m hearing may be approved by the end of October. Even then - good luck with compliance w vaccines. Would frequent testing make a difference? Dunno.

I don't know. For me, unless the sensor (I presume it to be APS-C) is staggeringly better I won't have a reason to update. Would the sensor for K3iii works well in GR and makes it staggeringly better than GRiii? I just don't know. Now - if something like GR FF (not likely) or GR mono, then now we are talking. It's just that GRiii is such a great camera that I am not sure what you really do with that for improvement, other than sensors.

A bit frustrated with the kids under 12 situation. FDA and CDC probably should be a bit more transparent regarding its approval process though. I am seeing a huge uptick in COVID related admission to my pediatric ICU the last 2 weeks. Not just respiratory related illnesses but also misc-c as well.

I have a D, never Z.
I just love the output of a CCD sensor. Ya, it’s slow but that’s how it is w MF shooting, at least for me. I have looked at plenty of files shot by Z, and while they look mighty fine, I prefer D over Z.

One of the serious consequences of being stupid enough to be vaccinated is that you become magnetic.

If u want to enjoy the sturdy construction of ltds u may want to hold off.

I think that if you really wanted, at least here in Southern California, anyone could receive the vaccine although it would have taken some degree of perseverance.

All of my non medical field friends got theirs within one week of calling local pharmacies ie Rite Aide and CVS and asking to be on the waiting list.

Itís probably not quite like that elsewhere ....

COVID-19 is more like a Russian roulette, so to speak. Mortality for measles is as you say low, but the thing about measles is that a small percentage of those infected later develop encephalopathy that is not reversible. If you are immune-compromised, getting Chicken Pox can be a death sentence too.

You know, I get it.

Growing up, from early on my teacher forbade me to listened to Gould. The problem was that it only made me want to listen to his records more and more. By the time I was in my mid teen Bach had become my favorite, and I did then think that, aside from the machine-like style u r describing, nobody delineated polyphonic voices better than Gould. That being said - he played works of composers as if he hated them, and often made me wonder why he recorded them to begin with. I find his Beethoven simply and utterly unacceptable. He is known for his interpretation of Bach, but how he played modern pieces like those of Shoenberg, Hindemith, and Webern was nothing short of miraculous.

For those of us who play - identifying Gould blindly was very easy, actually. It may well be because we are so aware of his repertoire so well.

Good point. If there are too much discrepancies in size and price between GFX100s and new 645, this OVF philosophy consistent with K3III isn't going to be as good an argument or selling point, at least for me.
