There's also a new one in Ontario Canada. Rene Fisher. She was added as an ambassador just the other day and is using the K-3 III.

Bluetooth functionality is as follows according to the FCC testing where they show that section of the user manual...
1) Remote Capture (Use the phone to control the camera and trigger the shutter)
2) Image view (View the images on the memory card)
3) Time Synchronization (Set the date and time for the camera by using the phones date and time)
4) Store Location info (GPS Geotagging from the phone)
5) Auto Image Transfer (Automatically transfer images to the phone)
6) Auto Resize (Reduces JPEG file size to xs and transfers it to the phone)
7) Image transfer while off (Continues to transfer images even if the camera is turned off in the midway through transfer) ***NOTE: Pentax refers to "Phone" as a "Communication Device"*** Link to K-3 III Manual |

If I understood what the K-3 III manual aperture system is doing, it's basically eliminating the need for the green button for stop down metering.
It's now done automatically when using the shutter button and allows you to also use other modes such as TAv instead of just being stuck on Av. So you can now dial in both shutter and aperture with the lens aperture ring and use the e-dial to tell the camera what aperture is being used. When you go to take the picture, the camera (as per usual in TAv) will auto adjust the ISO and automatically stop down the lens to the set aperture. No more relying on the green button for stop down metering. It's now integrated into the cameras metering system for when you press the shutter. That's how I read it anyway.

I agree. There are variables that need to be considered in the equation when shooting at high ISO.
With my K-30 and DA 50 1.8, I shot a special event at a nightclub and had to use 10,000-12,800 ISO (no use of flash due to video being recorded and I didn't want to blind the Salsa Dancers) and the images were completely useable for online social media marketing on Instagram and FB.

Possibly smaller file size, it would make sense for it to work out that way.
As for larger buffer, that all depends on how they programmed the camera to deal with various crop sizes when shooting.

Most likely the same as when I had a FujiFilm camera.
The camera natively shot 4:3 and the crop options were 3:2 and 16:9.
I'd suspect that the K-3 III will offer 1:1 and 16:9.

Well, the official answer I received direct from Pentax is "We do not have cameras available for reviewers yet". Sooo, maybe they're looking in to that for the future. Or, it was a polite way to say no but keep hopes up lol. ---------- Post added 12-17-20 at 05:09 PM ----------
Well, here in Ontario, Pentax in a store is unheard of. They just aren't available in person unless you pick it up after having it special ordered in.

How fresh is the camera battery? Is it aftermarket or genuine Pentax? Could be that the battery isn't supplying consistent voltage which is causing the issue.

And that is the issue. From all angles, outside of the Pentax Product Stories series, they've seemingly done nothing. At least in North America. Europe and Japan seem to fare better though.

Advertising per se isn't the issue in my opinion. Some habits die hard while others find creative ways to get the word out.
Lets' look at some examples within the automotive industry.
GM, FORD, FCA spend an enormous amount of money on advertising.
Then there's Tesla, Rivian, Koenigssegg, McLaren, Rolls Royce who spend practically nothing on advertising.
Tesla has shaken up the automotive industry, even with shoddy build quality and lots of bumps, scrapes and hurdles to overcome within their products, they still sell like hot cakes and coffeee.
Rivian has already become a threat to Tesla, no advertising used. Just a few press releases and some teaser videos. Then GM introduces the electric Hummer. No advertising, just press releases and teaser videos. The HUmmer EV sold out completely in 10 minutes of its official launch (at a cost of $100,000+ for each vehicle).
Koenigsegg hyper cars sell out EVERY time they're released. They have a YouTube channel that does some behind the scenes elements and teaser videos.
McLaren, well, they don't advertise but do give vehicles to reviewers and based on that, they sell well.
Range Rover, they don't really advertise either, and yet, somehow, lots of people still buy them.
So, it's not just about advertising in general or lack of it, it's about how you go about spreading the word about your product.
We're in an age where traditional advertising just isn't really enough anymore and can actually be counter productive.
It's across all industries at this point. How many of us have seen videos of products that don't even exist, so much hype get's built up, Kickstarter campaigns go way over the initial ask but they haven't even made a prototype yet?
Sony, Canon, Nikon, FujiFilm all provide cameras to various reviewers and even with those cameras flaws, they still sell without issue.
We are living in strange times, however, a company needs to keep with the times to remain viable. And they can do that without spending a massive budget on ad-space. If they want to.

I'm part of a number of photography for beginner groups on FB and here's what I see pretty much daily, sometimes multiple times per day...
"I want to get a new camera, currently shoot with phone. What's the best camera? Canon, Nikon or Sony? My budget is $500"
Sometimes it's just "Canon or Sony" other times it's just "What's the best camera?"
The answers are always the same no matter which of the 3 versions of the question get's asked.
Sony gets about 70% of the recommendations, followed by Canon and Nikon pretty much evenly spread at about 20%.
Some people will say FujiFilm (about 5%).
Panasonic, Olympus make up the remaining 5%.
Nobody (unless it's me) mentions Pentax. Save maybe 3 times that I've seen.
The reasons are always the same, Mirrorless is just better, period.
Even if you explain pros and cons of shooting Mirrorless vs DSLR, they ignore ALL the cons of Mirrorless and just say DSLR is old and dead. Mirrorless is the future.
They're so blinded by the tech that they can't even read properly. "The budget is max $500" and people are recommending the Sony A7R II and A7R III and A7R IV. Canon R5 and 6 and Nikon Z6 and 7.
It's all the cameras that are presented all across the internet, YouTube, Ads, Camera Store landing pages, hell, even radio commercials. It's all they know because it's always in their face.
In the end, they end up either getting a Nikon D3XXX, or Canon T5, 6, 7.
The next day the new DSLR owner "I went to take a picture, it looked fine on the screen, but when I took the picture, it was really dark. Did I just get a broken camera? I just got it from the store/just arrived I didn't drop it, I'm so upset! I don't know what to do?! HELP!!!!!!"
They just aren't used to having to understand the correlation of various settings to make a good exposure. They expect the same "what you see is what you get" experience that they're used to on their phone and anything else is just too hard.

From my experience between my K-30 and K-3, the K-30 (same camera internally as the K-50) is MUCH better regarding high ISO shooting all the way to 12,800 ISO. Same sensor size, bigger pixels = less noise.
The K-3 controls noise well, but the images aren't nearly as clean as those from the K-30/50 16 MP sensor, at least from my results shooting both cameras over the years.
